Hey Lee, give Aaron a call at Outmotoring. He is in Knoxville, but I'm sure he knows all the shops who work on MINIs. Bet he could point your son in the right direction.

    UGGG...
Price sounds high... Only 3 bolts holding it in place... Easy access on top right of the engine...
May take a special tool to disconnect the fuel line IIRC....
I think you are getting poked....

I did it over a weekend when the shop was closed...
I probably had 10 hours in it total...
Cleaned the intake and replaced the seals while I had it apart..

Wow that is one expensive HPFP. Must be made of unubtainium. Wondering about the disparity in price between DT & FCP?

Lee at least your son will have a great driving car for years to come.

They used to be "Poke yer eyes out" expensive a number of years ago...
They must have solved the supply problem...

I guess DT has NOS that was bought when the price was eye watering.... Pays to shop around, plus FCP has a lifetime warranty on parts one buys there.

It's getting harder and harder to fine a good shop anymore. Over the years I have dealt with 3 shops that I would have recommend if they were sill open. I found a shop that is ok. I'm done doing mods I just go to car shows now.

The lad has an appointment on Thursday to take the car in for a blasting. It’s a shop Aaron suggested.
    Thanks @Crashton

If I had been home and had some time I probably would have done some investigating first. I have a feeling they are getting the part from a dealer. Some shops will only use oem parts.
Oh will. I will just be glad when he gets it back.

That’s a 3:40 min drive. I don’t know if that is doable in a day. But I would trust that dealer.

Nice job! He said it goes into limp mode now when he try to drive. I told him don't drive it till he takes it in. I also told him to let it idle till it warms up when he does take it in.

Well the up side is my son texted 2 days ago and said the shop really knew their stuff, thats good. Texted yesterday and said they were about done with the car. the bill will be $750. Called later in the day to say they got it started and it ran better but they had trouble starting it so they found it needs a high pressure fuel pump. $1200 for the bump $500 to put it on.

About 2K all in. I am not amused

Having never dealt with a HPFP that sounds like a lot of money but given how the prices of things are today it’s probably the going rate.
