Hey guys, I'm in real dire need for some technical advice. I've been having this issue on my cooper S R53 for a couple of months now. It's some sort of a rattle noise coming from the left supercharger horn or somewhere down below. Noise would persist for the entire drive but more prominent during cold start. I've replaced timing chain tensioner but to no avail.. Next plan would be to remove the supercharger to check on the PTO / refill the oil. Fingers crossed

Belt tensioner, idler pulley, timing chain tensioner, or supercharger. Just some ideas of the usual suspects.

    Welcome to MA!
What sethat46 said. I would start with a new belt, belt tensioner and idler pulley first. Also check your crank pulley, make sure the rubber does not have any cracks in it.

Some people change the belt and tensioner once a year.

Is it the stock supercharger pulley?

    Welcome to motoring alliance!!
Like I said in your twin post on NAM...welcome to motoring alliance!!
Push in your clutch....and see if it goes away...
A throwout bearing rattle can sound like it is coming from the SC area...

even if you change the tensioner, if the guides are shot you have no hope of getting it to stop.
Run the car at idle with the belt off see if the noise continues, if so it would be a internal problem.
While you have the belt off, spin check all the pulleys.
Make sure if you run the car with the belt off, you have a pin through the tensioner strap to keep it from touching the crank pulley at all.

Thank you for all the suggestions guys!
Will check it out and update here on my findings.
Really hope my supercharger is not fcked up in any way
By the way, mine is a Aisin automatic r53

Supercharger is stock cooper s, yet to change until I've gotten this issue fixed.
I've gotten a sets of screamin demon coil packs as well as 17% reduction pulley from WMW, grs inter cooler, waiting to be installed..

I'm from Malaysia and Ive just gotten my car for about 3-4 months now

Get rid of the screamin demon coil packs unless you want to take the chance of frying your ECU. The OME one is good for big HP numbers.

    Your Mini looks good.

Thought I'd update on this. I've did a supercharger snout rebuild. Found one of the bearings to be in rough condition. Swapped all 3 bearings out, new seal and new coupler. Knocking snd grinding Sound reduced significantly
