Might take a little more saving, but a remote tune with the flash tool is going to be your best bet.
Its returnable to stock, the tool can be cleared and sold if you ever decide to sell the car ( a small fee may apply), and you will have your car tuned by the one guy out there who is still producing actual high end performance parts for the MINI.

ViPEC would be great, but 99% of people do not need it. :)

Yes I am starting to lean in that direction, and if I can get a canned tune on the programmer from the get go, its a done deal!

I personally feel that the programmer is just a way for them to lock the program to the VIN (which I understand for making money reasons) but hate :incazzato: that we have to pay 350$ for that, but I guess I will have to just deal with it.

    RMW/Jan Tune

So I ordered the RMW/DimSport Remote tune box.

As per BlimeyCabrio suggestion I asked Jan about a generic / canned tune for my mods, and he told me that he could do it.

I will update as more info becomes available.

I don't know the difference in the cost but since you've ordered the modual anyway, you'd be much better off finding a dyno & making arrangements w/ Jan to just have a custom done.

    Base Tune Installed

I got a base 380cc tune from Jan today and Flashed the computer with that tune, I only got to drive it around the block, but the RPM range seems to be raised be 500rpm's. (remember this is an MCSa).

I have to do some running around tomorrow so I can dog it out a bit and see.

Of Course the two next rounds of upgrades:

First: a Gauge Pod with: Innovative AFR, Innovative Boost, and Howerton Water/Meth Information Guage

Second: Howerton HFS-3 Water/Meth injection system for the Mini Cooper S

the first will help with tuning, and the second will require a new tune, I am going to go mild on the water so that I can have a margin of safety.

I am glad that I got the flash unit as now, I can flash the Water/Meth System out if I want to.

I am going to build the gauge pod on the A-Pillar Like this:

Dont forget there is an airbag behind there... If you cut the retention strap its a projectile in a wreck, and even worse when you put gauges on it.

    Congrats on the tune.

I have had a Howerton Meth kit for years and have been running 100% VP M-1 meth since day 1. It is 100% safe no need to mix with water.

Jan can put a tune on your car for 100% and you can take advantage of the higher octane along with the additional cooling that 100% meth provides.

    METH does a motor good.

    Very good point.

I would not install an A pillar gauge pods either, that could really hurt one day if the airbag in the A puller ever goes off.

I used the Craven speed pod set up one each side of the tach. I have Meth gauge on the right and Boost on the left.

Maybe Craven Speed has something for your chrono pack.

Just don't put gauges on the A pillar because of the airbags.

    There are other options...
The OE aux gauge mount that goes under the heater control, vent mods, mounting cups...

Been there, done that, with the A Pillar gauge cluster. Reduced my vision quite a bit so ended up selling off the custom built A Pillar.

Thats nice, I am only going to do three gauges, and keep them low as I am tall to try to reduce the the vision loss

Nice! But I can see how that would restrict the field of vision quite a bit.

With the Chrono Pack you use the Craven "Z" bracket & their cups, the Z brackets can be mounted normal or upsidedown for a lower position, and of course right or left side.
Here's mine with a set of Double Cups.

    Lower: (which I prefer)

Or of course you always have the old school Dash Top option too.
