:cornut: I just passed along a thank you prayer for your son and the other people and said thank you that no alcohol was involved.

I had decided to go with the Continentals or the Nitto. We have one dealer in town for the Nittio. He told me it would take two weeks to get them. There were two dealers that could get Continentals. One wanted 189 each and the other 179 each. I thought they were out of there heads if they thought I would pay that price. Wish I had time for Tier Rack.
Frist impression of the Bridgestone tire is good. It had just stopped sleeting when I drove home. The streets were wet overpasses were starting to build ice.
In the wet the grip was good.
I took my son out to let him feel the antilock brakes. But he had trouble getting them to fire because the MINI stopes so fast. He said compared to the Mustang the MINI stopes, steers, and is faster then his old car. He had a V6.
I have lost my car.:cryin:-

:cornut: A real love/hate relationship. Love your son in a better safer car but hate losing the MINI. Having done the correct Father type thing don't worry, something will come along.

Thank you Jason. We also have said a payer of thanks for everyone's safety. It turned out that the people he hit are related to his best friend, and later in our conversation found we are of the same faith. It took me about 20 or 25 min. to get to him. In that time the couple had taken care of my son. I can't repay their kindness.
05r50 Thanks for the advice one of the tire stores near my house carries Cooper tires. I will give them a call.-

First I really want to thank everyone that posted an answer. You were all really helpful to me.
What it came down to was witch tire I could get today. I leave town tomorrow and had to have the Mini good to go for my son.
And the tire I ended up with were the Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport. That was all I could get in town today. But I still had to compromise. I wanted 215 40 17 but had to settle for 205 45 17.
I could not believe that when I called around and asked about the different tires that all of you suggested the wait times were anywhere from a day to two weeks.
Its been a long day. Had to deal with the insurance co., go sale my sons car for salvage, and find tires.
From the time my son was 9 till now we have taken the Mini on countless road trips, car shows, autoX and the dragon(we don't get to go this year). He loves that Mini as mush as I do. So I know he will take care of it and enjoy driving it.
Now if I could convince my wife I need a GP. :biggrin5: R53 of course!!-

I'm running cooper zeon rs3a on my JCW. I like them and they are pretty close to that price.
Glad your son was OK. -
looks like it was one heck of a hit. glad everyone is ok. I run nitto neo gens they are about 80 a piece for my 15's they do well in the rain. not sure what your location is but for GA they make a good all season.
-
Thanks everyone.
I'm about to start calling around to see what I can find. I don't know anything about the Nitto's I will check them out before I make a decision. -
Glad all are OK.
As to tires in your budget range, sorry, I'm not much help. -
First off, glad to hear that everyone was okay.
As far as tires, I'm currently running Hankook Ventus V4 ES, in 205-50-R16. They are well within your budget and have proven to be a good all-season choice. They were even satisfactory in light snow use last winter (my MINI's my only car, so it gets used every day whatever the weather).
