Ok, finally had a chance to chill and figure this out. The clock spring is available and easily replaced. Biggest issue solved. Looks like it simply failed. There is definitely something broke inside of it. It barely turns. New one coming !
fancy name for a pre-twisted/folding cable connector, I see. Does look like a spring in a manual winding clock, I guess
Scott I have no idea, but my guess would be with an airbag wheel with cruise & audio hook ups it probably is important. Can it be glued back together? I'd call Steven at eMINIparts.com. 603-637-2900 He will be able to tell you if that part is available separately.
Scott you have a right hand drive car? I thought you were in the US. give all mag a call they have lots of mini parts. The only other thing I know to do would be try some JB weld https://www.allmagautoparts.com
Can you post the pic of the real oem? My guess is the pin is needed as that piece I think would rotate keeping the wires from ripping out/breaking. Again just a guess
why is this part called "clock spring?" I keep hearing this whenever people deal with blow air bag replacement.
