Breaking News: Fontana, NC was hit by a freak meteor storm. Film at 11:00. I just had to do that. Jim
The fires all seem to start after the engine is shut off and the circuit kicks in to start the secondary pump to cool down the turbo bearing. You are all going to the Dragon to drive..... So don't stop.....
WOW, that would have to make you feel nervous when you shut the engine off in front of the gas pump. Guess I'll have to make sure there are only justas around when I fill up. Jim
I know you are only kidding but there are a lot of people that are genuinely worried. Your fear mongering is not helping them. Drive gently for a few miles before shutting the car down to help reduce the turbo temps and you should have nothing to worry about.
Wow, moved a long way from landslides in this post, and as for flaming MINI's, Gen 1, supercharger all the way....
Ideally... As one drives from home to MOTD the car catches fire and when you pull over a boulder is dislodged falling on the MINI and putting out the fire. Hows that for encompassing... :arf:
If the slide's not cleared by MOTD, here's a route that I took the last time it happened and have used ever since: I81 south to I26 to 74 to 28(Hellbender). This passes south of the slide area. It's a nice drive...I26 has some great sections and some good views. Of course this route applies to only those coming from the mid-Atlantic and the northeast section of the country. And I'm in a Gen 1, so no fireballs for me.
The NC Department of Transportation has reported a new rockslide on I-40 in Haywood County. The slide happened on 2/3 around noon in the westbound lanes at mile marker seven in a section of I-40 that was already closed due to a rockslide in eastern Tennessee earlier this week. The eastbound lanes of I-40 in this area remain open and are not affected by the most recent slide.
