Also I recently wore out the runflats and switched from 17 "heavylites" to a set of 16s and Continential 205/50 DWSs. Boy what a difference. (Wish I wouldn't have waited this long to ditch the runflats!)
I have dumb chick questions -sorry. :blush2:
1. difference between the runflats and the Conti's. ?
2. What do you do for a spare?
3. Did you buy 5 Conti's. ?
4. Could you use Pirelli's. ? (although the Conti's do look nice)-

1. Run flats are hard riding(internal car noise) and heavier than non run flats increasing unsprung weight and degrading suspension performance.
2. Me, I bought a set of light(14lbs each wheel as opposed to MINI light weight wheels at 24lbs each) weight wheels decreasing unsprung weight further and increasing suspension performance. I kept the old MINI wheels with one of the old tires on it for a spare that stands nicely between the boot hatch and the rear aftermarket body brace. Other people carry air pumps and 'green slime'(plugs the hole) kits to get them to the tire dealer.
3. See above. I only bought 4 tires. Continentals are good but so are other brands.
4. Pirelli's are good tires and if they have the proper size, use them. I just wore out my Continentals(@ 33kmi) and switched to Yokahamas as they were cheaper. To me longivity/tire life is important and therefore I go for hardness ratings above 500. My yokahamas are 560(the Continentals were 540) and as long as I rotate them every 3kmi or so, they should last(not including tracking the MINI) 35kmi or more.
I hope that this helps.

It only took about six months to get to this.
Modding a MINI is no problem. Controlling yourself is a problem. I have done a lot and I am not done yet.
