Simple, don't use halogen housings to run HIDs. Use the proper OEM HID housings.

Run it the way you are suggesting, and you will blind everybody....
And put very little light where you want it...
A hid bulb in a halogen housing just does not work...
The e-baybkits are junk..kinda fit...
But I see them every night...
They make a huge amount of glare...light up the trees, the sky, etc in a useless diffused light...
Throws about HALF the light as a halogen bulb WHERE YOU NEED IT....
Especially apparent on a rainy night...even dangerously bad.-

Edit: Do you know the part number for the OEM HID housing? And is it the whole headlight assembly? Also is it the Xenon headlight assembly?
Thanks -
I'm glad I asked you guys this question!

The HELLA site on amazon has the OEM housings...both the Old and the newer versions...
Some of the Chinese made xenons housing with projectors seem to be pretty good for the $$ if the $600+ OEM retrofit is too $$. -

My Duramax is different I guess. The HID set up works great in that application.
