Mine went to 19,000, but I've heard of ones going over 22K.

I never thought to just let it run since I reset it myself every other oil change, I'll have to try this.
-
I haven't looked at mine lately (I will though) but a rough estimation is more than -40,000.

Does an angry face come up at -50K ?

Resetting Service Indicator on your '02-'06 MINI Cooper & Cooper S
For those who would like to reset their service indicator, here you go.
I wanted to reset it on my '02 MCS when purchased it 1.5 years ago because it was at ~ -20K and I found this on a thread somewhere. It worked for me.
1) Press and hold the trip button
2) Insert key and turn to position 1
3) Watch for RESET to appear
4) Release the button, then press & hold it again
5) Wait for the RESET to flash
6) Release the button, and then press & release (once only)
7) Service interval should then be reset to next interval -

I always reset mine. It usually takes me a try or two & a bit of cussing. :incazzato:

This is good to know - I'm typing this from the waiting room of my local MINI dealer, having a popped engine mount replaced. I just asked them to reset the interval for me, so they'd better not charge me, seeing how I could have easily done it myself in 30 seconds. -
