I picked up my 2017 Clubman S ALL4 last Friday. It was a long wait, but it has all been worth it. I love the car and am learning new things about it every day. I'm coming off a Volvo XC90, so even though the new Clubbie is, uh, struggling with a few extra pounds (*looks down* I'm working on it, OK?!) it's a substantial improvement in handling and enjoyment.

I've heard rumors that pictures are encouraged, so here goes:

Welcome, and thanks for the pictures.

I had a Volvo XC70 before my MINI. I only had it for about 9 months -- I got it cheap. I tried to like it, but it was a bit too sedate for me.

I think you will enjoy the change. I sure have.

Thanks everyone! I'm really enjoying the handling day to day. My XC90 was the 311hp V8, so it certainly wasn't down on power, but "throwing it around" wasn't on the menu for that car in the same way it is on the Clubman. If I have a complaint, it's that in Mid-mode driving the throttle/transmission response from a slow or standing start seems mighty sluggish. In Sport mode it's much quicker and doesn't short-shift, so maybe that's just how they design it.

I ordered the car with the all-season tires because of the late delivery date and, well, it's Minnesota. Are most people monitoring forums and craigslist for a spare set to use as winter wheels? Throwing on some janky steelies for winter? I've got time to sort that out, I guess.

    Looking forward to learning more,

    Dirk

The more economy oriented modes will short shift, but squeeze out some extra fuel economy. It is like that on most of the automatic tranny cars I've driven.

Sport mode will let the drivetrain wind up more, and change the throttle mapping to be more aggressive. It also changes the steering power assist -- not as much assist. I haven't done a comparison on fuel economy. It can't possibly be any worse than a V8 X90.

I don't know how good the All4 system is. On my Audis with quattro AWD, I was able to handle snow just fine with all-season tires.
