It dipped down to 6° here in central North Carolina over night. Keep in mind there was no precipitation and the skies are clear. Grocery stores are out of milk and bread and schools and businesses are actually closed today in fear of the cold. I'm not joking.
What's a lactose intolerant, gluten free vegan to do in a Southern Weather Emergency like this? (For those of you N of the Mason/Dickson line, at the first warning of snow or cold, grocery stores are overrun with milk and bread hoarders.)
It's a balmy 14 degrees here now. One more degree, and I'm going to put on my bikini and go outside to work on my tan! :fingers crossed: In the meantime, here's a heartwarming little poem. Feel free to substitute your state's name. A Winter Poem It's winter here in Iowa And the gentle breezes blow Seventy miles an hour At thirty-five below. Oh, how I love Iowa When the snow's up to your butt You take a breath of winter And your nose gets frozen shut. Yes, the weather here is wonderful So I guess I'll hang around I could never ever leave Iowa 'Cause I'm frozen to the ground.
WooooHoooo we just got up to 10 degrees :cornut: Ofcourse it is 4pm and the temp is just going to drop and drop....
Cold enough that I'm thinking of heading South to help unstick that boat in Antarctica just for the warmer weather.
Milk and bread hoarders... I like that. I bet there will be surplus milk and bread all over Craigslist by Friday once we're back to 40° being the low temperature. I still find it hard to believe, and I've lived here for almost 18 years, that businesses and schools are actually closed today.
Yeah. Not the first time I've heard that. It was cooler in the morning and when your job consists of sitting in front of a desk and not moving for hours, a bit of heat is a good thing.
Nope she is all well and good. She was backed into the garage as far back from the leak as possible. It would have not been a big deal if she did get wet since she currently has about 6 coats of wax on her. :biggrin5::crazy::devil::lol:
Its so cold I am now using a blow dyer to heat my room. The heater can't keep up any more. If I can make it one more hour I'll be headed south. Its 9 deg
-5 here in STL at 6:30 on the way to work this morning. Clubman started fine, but heard some new rattles from the barn doors. On the way home it had warmed to about 20, but the roads turned from snow pack, to ice. Had to put an egg between my foot and the go/stop pedals. To bad more folks ventured out today, or it could have been fun out there Mark
+3 here this morning. It warmed all the way up to a balmy +17 as the day wore on. I was doing much the same as our buddy Dave...chasing and fixing busted water pipes all day long. Thankfully it was for work instead of my house. Warren Buffett can afford the repairs better than I can.... Colder than a well digger's ass in the Klondikes...
We made it out from 60 contiguous hours of sub-zero today. Got up to 5 F at the max. Woo hoo. No records here (Mpls) and we have infrastructure for such stuff, but I really feel for the folks in the Southern clime. Frozen pipes and crappy heat everywhere. Total bummer.
