I'm considering putting a Cooper S style gas cap on my justa (I like chrome) but I can't figure out how to remove the door and surrounding insert. I've found a "how to" for Gen 1 Coopers but the door and surround don't look quite the same. Anybody got any hands on experience with this project?

There's a long screw/bolt on the bottom that you have to remove the inner fender liner to access. I had to swap mine out b/c the car (a MCS) came from the factory with the body-colored cap (from the Justa.)

Well, I removed the inner fender liner to take a look. There is one nut up near the fuel door that will allow you to remove the filler tube from the door assembly (you also have to remove one more nut securing the filler tube to the bodywork). Once you remove the filler tube, the door and its surrounding housing is still firmly attached to the outer body. How did you remove the door and its housing from the bodywork?
