yeah after going back and reading that i saw it too lol. I should have wrote the other details. All of my guy friends give me crap for driving a baby blue mini cooper. Dont get it wrong they like the car too but still they tease me about it and I kinda been doing it to myself lately to fit in more (gettin used to it since I am keeping the mini for a while). Actually had the windows down yestrerday and a car full of chicks were laughin too so probably thought it was funny seeing a dude driving a baby blue mini again...
I think gender stereotyping is all bullsh*t. Drive what ever you want, I learned not to care what other people think as long as I'm happy.
I don't care what colour the car is as long as I'm going fast and in front! Just as an example. I used to drive an MG midget in CA. a slow car but really fun to drive. I drove it flat out everywhere. Anyway there was a Camaro drag racer look alike at the traffic lights with a girl at the guys side. I came blasting up to the lights knowing they will be on green as I get to the white line. The dude saw me coming and floored it but it was too late he was out dragged my a tiny little MG. hahaha he actually chased me to run me off the road as I imagine he was pissed. Even when I took a side street he followed until he got bored because he had to slow down for the corners. Midget 1 Camaro 0
As an MG owner, truth be told many times those trying to keep up had problems with the oil I was dumping on the road.
You know what they say Chuck...when a British car is not leaking oil , it's out of oil! I built my MG with speacial seals from a bearing supplier. Never leaked or had electrical issues.
Never leaked oil? You musta been dry. Mine leaked like a sieve. Self changing, every once in a while I changed the filter & called it good. Mine was a great car & never left me stranded. I was always able to effect a roadside repair. :biggrin5: Man these modern cars, unless you are out of gas or have a flat you ain't gonna fix them on the side of the road. AAA+ FTW! :yesnod:
Mine was a MG with the 1500cc engine. I took the engine apart, then took all the seals to a roller bearing supplier. He did some measurements and found heavy duty versions in his catalog(British engineering). Also if there is a ridge in the crank i fitted the seal in a little more to miss the ridge. I think most old engines use standard seals which there are heavy duty versions. I also fitted a remote oil filter and electric fuel pump. Even did that with an 83 V8 range Rover. Sorry tummi for going off the original thread.
