Jim the Justa Cooper R56 has seemed to be pretty reliable. My guess is the complexity of the Prince of an MCS engine head, direct injection & turbo is what is causing most R56 MCS problems. I know there have been some changes to the Prince engine for the 2011 year. Not sure what those are or if they address any of the issues it has.
CheckersSD I've got more than twice your mileage with few problems, keep motoring & you'll catch up. I know R53 MINIs can achieve high mileages. I love mine too, but am wondering what to do down the road.
It's the whole long term high mileage R56 MCS engine that worries me. Lots of good feedback here. Keep it coming.
Thanks...-

Interesting....
So you drive on avg 14,281 miles per day or just about 595 miles per hour...every day, 24 hrs per day.
Thats one fast MINI. -

Nice! Hopefully (and sadly) ill probably never step foot in there ever again with my MINI.
Warranty is over lol. Any other visit would probably just make me want another one -

I forgot about all the work we did here at MINI MAG. It was quite a long time ago.
We fabricated the parts counter top, and the coffee counter in the waiting area. I'm happy it's still holding up quite well. -

Well, they got the tach working and the mileage corrected back to 6,500 miles. So I guess my Charlie Sheen "Winning" moment was short lived. I've just been dethroned on the mileage award. My fleeting 15 minutes of fame are all gone.

I'm sorry to get this thread back on topic, but....
Who has the highest mileage R56 MCS or JCW?
How has the reliability been?
Do they really drop timing chains & have tensioners back out?
What about the carbon issue?
The reason I ask such probing questions is I see me replacing my R53 :yikes: in another year or so. With the next design of the MINI likely to use 3 cyl snowmobile engines I'll need to jump to an R56 MCS or JCW.
Thanks for your insight.... -
Chuck, 55k on my 09 JCW. No carbon problems, had the tensioner replaced as part of a campaign. No other issues at all. Lots of road miles every week.

Mark I didn't think you'd have carbon issues due to the fact your car is always turning a lot of rpm on the road.
Maybe we can issue Riverrun as a TSB service to remove carbon.
Thanks for the feedback.
