Mine exeded that long ago....:biggrin5:
The car was picked up pre-owned for $16,500
All the stuff bought on my deployment to Iraq came out to around $28,000! If I remember correctly, I do still have the original plan list to figgure it out.
All the stuff I got when I got back (But wont use again) Sprintex, Bytetronik, yada yada... All the crap that dont work, was around $4,000.
So there's roughly $32,000 on a $16K car.
But I am redoing the paint, body work and adding some more exterior things, so you can add another $3,000 there.
The engine to be built by Jan, and everything to go with it (ViPEC, OS Giken stuff, new header... ect...) is running me in the neighborhood of another $12,000.
So yeah... I've got a lot into my MINI. Its still worth it to me though. I'm just glad I have no labor charges doing everything myself, or I could easily have $100K tied up in this car when it runs again.:cornut:-

:idea:I'll cut you a deal if you want to buy it, so I can buy something that actually works.
Seems you go out of your way to interupt any thread telling how it really is with theese products Jim, so I will save you some trouble:
On a list of Sprintex owners on the other forum 8 out of the 13 people who have come foreward with Sprintex ownership have had problems with the kit, the kits components, or their car durring or after instalation! FACT! Three people on the list never publicly posted in the thread, for what reason? Two reported problems, then totally droped off the boards... Why? Two have also come foreward with total engine failures. The people of this board can draw their own conclusions from this data (collected over the last couple years), I have and IMHO IT'S A PILE OF JUNK that you should stay away from. You can say what you want about it but you cant dispute the facts... And remember you do not own one of theese units, so anything you choose to say about them is just hear say.
As for ByteTroniK: There has never been an official list of people who have bought the product, maybe there should have been. I can tell you though that most people I have talked with have had problems either using it or with the ECU trying to adapt over their tune. This even includes a couple shops who have tried FA on customers cars. It seems the only people who have much good to say about it are people like you... The ones who have done little more than install the software on their ECU, and maybe pay the software developer to do a remote tune. In my oppinion it is not worth the $800, nor is it the tuning solution that we where all hoping for uppon its release. Yes it does allow you to tune your car for what mods you may have, but as you get further and further into the bigger modifications the factory ECU will always try to over compensate and be nothing but a problem. Not saying ByteTroniK is the problem, but the factory ECU itself is the root of all the non tuner related problems with ByteTroniK.
So there you go Jim, you can argue theese products are great all you want, but there is a time and place for it. Using the SEARCH button to see what people are saying, then completely derailing whatever threads that have anything other than positive experiances, is NOT the way to do it. Doing that just makes you look like a trolling parts pusher trying to fill somebody elses quota. So take a deep breath, relax, and just let everybody share their first hand experiances and oppinions weather they are good or bad.:beer-

I can now safely say that the cost of my mods exceeds the cost of a new Fiat.

It is hard not to mod. So much stuff available and so much fun. Most of the things I have done and plan to do were the very things I wanted to fo to my TR Spitfire back in the 60's, but could not afford to do. Now I can. Well, as long as the wife does not see this poll that is . :yesnod:

Don't know what you'd call the 100K club, but I got an idea on how to spend the bucks. Pull the engine out of your MINI and replace it with another little BMW turbo 4 banger that I bet can be had thru their unobtainium parts catalog. Remember that tiny I4 they put in F1 cars back in the '80s? The one that maxed out a 1200HP dyno? That should plow through that 100K in a real hurry! LOL
