DOS used to offer a kit that would inject Seafoam into the intake ahead of the throttle body. This was upstream in the rigid ducting after the intercooler.... It operated at idle while the intake was under vacuum, so the fluid was drawn into the airflow going to the engine.... DOS is no longer in business...

It didn't seem like a complicated setup, and don't know if it removed carbon....

Drill a hole in the rigid pressure pipe, add one of those brass aquarium barbed airline hose fittings (cap it off when you aren't injecting cleaner)..... Add one of those brass flow valves so you can control the amount and the hose end simply goes into the elixir of your choice...

Make sense? Don't know if it will remove the carbon on the piston tops.... But that's where you need to report the results.... Estimated cost.... Probably around $20.00 or so....:D

Seafoam proved useless by many users, members using seafoam were surprised to see at that carbon still forming on the intake valves.

Thank you for the reply though.

My suggestion was to use the same method of introducing the elixir of your choice to the throttle body.... Hint: BG44K if this was providing some measure of success for removing the carbon from the pistons.... Never in my wildest imagination would I suggest using Swampfoam....:D

    1. Aways run the highest octane fuel you can get. 91, 92, 93

    2. BG will not clean your valves because you have a D.I. Engine.

    3. Save for a Meth kit because it will spray after the throttle body and wash the back of your valves daily unlike your direct injection system. That's why you have a carbon problem no fuel is washing down the valves of carbon deposits.

    4. Thank BMW for another flawed design.

    1. Ummmm David.... He just had the valves cleaned (because he has a D.I. Engine)... He's working on the carbon on the pistons...

    2. The OP reports some success with BK on the piston tops removing carbon...

    3. OP wants to introduce BK into airstream going to the pistons to further clean piston tops...

    4. Most D.I. Engines have this carbon issue. Not isolated to BMW...

    5. The OP is from California.... Shortage of big number octane numbers from that strange country. He's stuck there...

That about sums it up!

I believe I have noticed something crazy, I have more power with the AC on Max! I drove extensively today with and without the AC on Max, my butt dyno is not wrong! :confused5:

MM I was just summing everything up but METH is the Cure for SoCal heat.

I was in Orange county last week when it was 102 - 104.

This BG service center is starting to drive me away, tech told me after the service was performed I would need MINI to reprogram my throttle body! The I asked the tech is this service like a seafoam treatment, he said that it was a seafoam! I need to contact BG corporate.

Can anyone show me how a stealthy installation would look like? I'm will to take a chance voiding my warranty if it's stealthy enough to go almost unnoticed. The weather today was 64 degrees, sweet! :drool

    I appreciate it!

I believe that on some model years with the AC on MAX a 180F thermostat opens.

So not only is there more gas added to the mixed and better engine cooling explains a lot. I could only imagine how meth would feel!

I'm pushing towards meth, 5 year warranty of not!

I had the urge to go spirited driving today, in the sun it was warm but the air temperature was super cool. My Mini performed like a champ, there was no chance of detonation today. On another note while using all 5 bottles of BG 44K I never escaped day to day stop and go traffic, I'm planning a trip down some mountain roads (50 miles a trip) that I know of and I'm going to open her up and create a little more heat to clean more carbon out of the combustion chambers.

I have an off topic question, I'm wanting to trouble shoot what I think is a flapping wastegate at 1750 rpms, it goes away before 2000 rpms. I want to unplug the vacuum line to the turbo actuator and then seal the vacuum line and drive it to see if that flapping noise is still present, will this harm my engine or turbo?

    Thanks,
    Systemlord.
