1st Gen R53 Cooper S How to tell if 2003 Cooper S has the Chili Package?

    How can you tell if a 2003 MINI Cooper S has the Chilli package or a LSD?:confused:

    Give MINI USA a call with the last 7 characters of the VIN, ask what packages the car had on delivery. 866-ASK-MINI.

    They can tell you what how the car was equipped when delivered, what the in service date was and who the delivering dealer was.

    I dont think the LSD was available for the MCS untill 05. So more than likely your 03 Mini does not have a LSD unless the previous owner included it with aftermarket mods.

    Sent a e-mail to BMW MINI of Sterling,Va. as this was the original seller of my car and ask them to notify me of what was ordered new on my car so I would know. Also called Road Show MINI in Cordova,Tenn. to ask about reprogramming the key as the battery had been dead for who knows how long, was told I have to make a appt: to bring it in but found 2 different ways online on how to reprogram the key. But my car only came with 1 key and was told it would cost me around $190.00 + the trip to Cordova, Tenn.

    Have you tried calling 866-ASK-MINI with the last characters of the VIN?

    Yes they referred me to the original dealer in Va.

    Chili package is a MINI UK thing. There is no Chili package in the US. We have premium and sports packages. All of them are just a collection of individual options.

    Looks like UK only possibly?

    Salt package (available on MINI One)
    Silver interior trim, floor mats, footwell lights, front seats rear passenger cargo nets, halogen front foglamps, interior lights package, passenger seat height adjustment, rev counter

    Pepper package (available on MINI Cooper)
    As Salt plus 15 8-spoke alloy wheels and chrome bumper inserts

    Chili package (available on MINI Cooper)
    As Pepper plus KALEIDO cloth/leather upholstery with leather steering wheel and gear knob, driver and front passenger sport seats, sport Suspension Plus, 16 5-star alloy wheels, rear roof spoiler (only available on Chili pack)

    I believe you are correct. I sort of remember that being a GB package. Although my memory is not as good as it once..... :sleep:

    From the research that I have been able to do the Chilli package on the '03 models was a U.K. option only but was basically the suspension that came on the S models with the Supercharger.
