Towels will always shed a bit at first....are these new?

Always wash the MF separately, and vinegar is a good addition to the rinse.

Definitely wash them separately, give them the extra rinse cycle and no fabric softener.

Maybe they are just getting worn out now?

Don't know as mine are not shedding.

I wash my towels in hot water extra rinse in cold water and even though the loads are small, I set for large load. I use about half a cup of vinegar in the wash cycle to break down products embedded in the towels.

    As mentioned above...

    1. Wash microfibers only with other microfiber... no regular fabric.
    2. Lots of water
    3. Liquid detergent
    4. No fabric softners or dryer sheets
    5. Dryer is OK

Correct. It tends to get caught in fibers and turns your towels into sandpaper.

I wash the microfiber separately, and use Griot's Microfiber cleaner with the detergent. I disagree with drying them in the dryer as it tends to shrink the nap on some of the thicker towels, and also causes the microfiber to break down. Once they start shedding, might as well toss them.

Don't toss them, use them for wheel wells and engine bays.

Why toss them if they start shedding? Just means a bit more time getting the loose threads cleaned off.

I don't know about you guys, but my oldest towels are yellow, and when they start breaking up, they are a MESS. I know what you mean about using old towels for the dirty jobs, but when they start disintegrating, they leave this yellow fuzz all over everything. Once I made the mistake of shaking out a bad one... Just toss 'em.

This is the stuff I use - towels don't smell like vinegar, the "fuzz factor" is reduced (tho not eliminated) and the towels just feel better somehow. I recommend this cleaner. Pat

I also use a microfiber cleaner and am very happy with the results. I use this. Probably the same stuff.
