Plugs and coils
-
Mine went out a few months ago, but not out completely. I got a check engine light a couple times within a 2-3 week period. A code came back as a failed HPFP. It didn't really fall on it's face in the low R's, just felt less torqey under boost didn't buck or stutter. I'd do coils, plugs(if you haven't recently, if you have go back to stock) and that pump Dave.0 linked you too. Really though, it's a MINI, Could be anything
-

No direct injection for you!
Gen2 S.....THEN YOU HAVE A HPFP....
Think you have a 2010 clubman...non-s...
If you don't know when the plugs were last changed, I'd start there....they don't seem to last on a gen2 like they should. -
Just did the plugs.
Ran the chevron techron additive through it.
Non S clubman.

They have updated the JUSTA coils
http://www.eminiparts.com/parts/index.cfm?searchText=12138657273&make=MINI&action=oePartSearch&siteid=217261
Newest part number -
Justa's don't need to have walnut shells shoot at them....
With coils....in my experience they usually give a code on most cars when they get flakey....
Hope it's an easy fix!! -
Yah me too. Like I said if it's not... She's going buh-bye. I don't have time for an unreliable car. I travel to much.

Ok so everyone's talking coils. Plugs have been done.... Can't find a code indicating coils.... No misfire codes... How do I check the coils???

The chick I bought my car from probably died as a result.

^^^ If it's running like crap when you get it appraised, they will deduct accordingly... Just make sure it's not some simple thing..
A good code reader will point you in the best direction with fixing the problem.... That's much better than changing parts willy nilly... -
Code reader said nothing was wrong. She goes to shop on Monday. The code reader also said my car only had 40k miles when it has 58k. My friend owns a shop and has excellent code readers also said nothing... So off to mini shop she goes.

MINI and cheap are very seldom used in the same sentence.....
Find a soft spot where you can fall down when you get the estimate...
Hope it's not too painful... -
Sounds to me like something is rotten....
The gen2 Cooper n12 or n16 tend to be pretty decent motors if you can live with the hp.....
Keep the oil filled, and sparkplugs changed....sounds like the op inherited another owners problems.....
