    I
Sounds to me like something is rotten....
The gen2 Cooper n12 or n16 tend to be pretty decent motors if you can live with the hp.....
Keep the oil filled, and sparkplugs changed....sounds like the op inherited another owners problems.....

Well the husband was given the option to trade or pay. So we will see come Monday what happens.
And they have very soft couches.

Yeah, I smell a stink. Non ACEA rated oil maybe?

Voices in my head are telling me that this isn't going to be "cheap".

I've used all approved replacement parts....
She goes to the shop today which a Cooper specialist and not a dealer. In my area we have no dealer but these people are amazing and own coopers themselves. They have worked on all my euros.... So cross your fingers. They have never over charged me or "found other things wrong just for the sake of making a buck".

Great that it's fixed now, but a real bummer on having to replace parts that were just replaced.

Won't be fixed u til end of week.... Parts won't be in til wed/Thursday. so I am stuck driving a lifted Chevy extended cab. Literally the exact opposite of my car with the gas mileage of a tank.

Any chance there is a warranty on the stuck thermostat? Some places give a 1 year on parts....

If you had one coil go out more may be on the way out. Why don't you just replace them all and be done with it? The price difference is negligible.

Then you can keep a spare or two in the glovebox just in case.

Delphi is the OEM manufacturer I do believe. You can get the remaining three from rock auto uber cheap...

I actually brought that up... They said that if the others go bad they will go ahead and replace them all but they don't think they all need to be replaced at this time. I see were on the same page as far as keeping extra parts in the car.

In the mean time I have gone on and looked at new grills and all the parts I need to black it out and take all the chrome off it. I guess if I'm keeping it were tricking it out....

Any rim suggestions? Size preferences ???
