Jim glad you & the pony's are OK. Once it drys out & the wind abates take a good look at the ranch. I'd even hire someone to inspect the roofs if you had high winds.
In 08 we got new roofs courtesy of Ike.
Erika glad you guys are OK too. Check that roof out. What is sea glass? -

Sea glass is shards of broken glass which has been churned & polished in the ocean.
I've been collecting sea glass since I was a kid and some of my most favorite pieces are from AK, CA, HI and the Caribbean.
Red is the most rare and I have a few red pieces.
Google "Sea Glass" and "Sea Glass Art" for some really neat examples. -
Thanks Crash and checking the roof and such is sound advice. The weather is predicted now days by computers, which is not a bad thing, but they don't have the human factor. Some of the old (human) forecasters could draw from what the had seen in years past, compare it to what they are seeing now and make a better call. Computers can not do that and most of the folks on the Weather Channel look like they got their degrees a couple of years ago.

Jim-Yes confusers are a wonderful thing. Still I think any more than a 48 hour forecast is just a guess. Radar is the biggest help that wasn't available in the distant past. It is an amazing thing to get on the confuser & see what weather is just down the road.

We had lots of wind and non-stop rain. A couple trees came down in my development. None of my big oaks tipped over but I'll have to spend an hour or so playing pick up sticks.
Had a few power outages, the longest was a few hours and, conveniently, while I was asleep. Power issues would have been much worse 10 years ago. After the big tornado came through in 2002 they rebuilt the local lines, etc, so it's sturdier and easier to quickly repair.
I'm missing a couple window screens, need to check the roof and a few other things. -
Yes, radar is great for advanced warning, even if it is just an hour, it can help.
Have you read the book "The Perfect Storm"? The movie did not cover this part well, but there was a old time meteorologist, who had been put out to pasture buy the computer generation. He was looking at the weather predictions when he remembered seeing this type of formation before. He pulled out the old charts and predicted the storm to the penny, but nobody believed him, because the computer did not agree. He turned out to be right and that was a true story.

Power still out, BG&E (Baltimore Gas And Electric) has 379,000 homes out of service including mine, power has been out since early Sunday morning, moving refrigerator stuff to friends house. We have a well, no power no water, collected 25 gallons of river water to flush toilets. Lots of tree limbs all over the yard.

Careful when the power comes back on. Make sure you didn't leave the stove on...

For a little while, it isn't bad. We took books outside after the storm passed, it was pleasantly windy, cool...sort of nice. New LED flashlights (his and hers) let us move around easily. Wifey made a pitcher of espresso the night before the storm in case so I could have a jug of iced espresso in the AM...Leftovers for lunch, burgers on the grill for dinner with potatoes...no problem. A new LED light for the shed was great for room lighting, and the laptop played (almost) an entire movie at bedtime... More interesting than anything. What I missed the most was News so I could watch the storms effects.
Then, this morning for work it got way less fun... 20 second freezing shower, no espresso...much less fun. -
Still no power, there is just something weird about going to work to take a shower.
