Sounds more like the town doesn't want him to go! Pods are cheaper than U-Haul? I'm surprised. You only get delivery when they have a load going that way then?
When consider the cost of the truck, trailer and now high cost of fuel along with the annoyance factor of having to go get the truck and then return it on the other end compared to them dropping a container on the driveway, telling you it is only 3-4 days till deliver as it travels via a scheduled route with a big trucking company, ABF in this case, the cost of the container is lower. Plus they come back and pick up the container. Plus driving such a rig with its limiters would drive me nuts. This way they drop of the container, we fill, they pick up and deliver 3-4 days later. I can even spend a few extra bucks and get a guaranteeing delivery date. But I'll roll the dice here and save the 500 bucks and maybe have to spend a night or two in a hotel. Still costs me less. Already have innerwebz service scheduled to be installed too...
