I'm removing my SC to change the oil. Their is a red retaining ring that keeps the vacuum line in the SC , I broke it. My dealer is trying to find the part but the picture does not show it. Does anyone know a part number or where I can get one? I've tried real OEM no luck.
I know this wouldn't be easy.

Maybe they have the part and can supply one to you.

Could you use some silicone/gasket material to make one up?

Maybe. If all els fails I will put it back in and seal it with silicone. It had tabs that went into the rubber to keep it from backing out.

How do people break these so easy?

I have been told the only come with the S/C. :( Saw a while back that there was a part from Land Rover with the same pice, but dont know where to even begin looking for the thread.

I was trying to be careful but just my luck. The same fitting is on some of the other lines that go to the plastic intake pipe between the air filter and SC.
    Maybe a junkyard.

I did the same damage last year... Let me look around for my receipt and I will shoot you a pm. I believe you'll have to buy the whole plastic line as it comes with those retainer clips you're seeking..... It's a dealer item I believe. Give me a few hours.

    Try this part number...

    11-65-1-504-943

This is for tubing that runs between the supercharger and the throttle body. There are two tubes and I can't be sure if the number I'm sharing is the correct one or not. A good MINI parts guy should be able to look up the diagram and match your broken item with new. When I got it back in March 2012, it cost me 18 bucks. If this isn't the correct part, and/or number, I at least hope it'll get you in the ball park.. Check your intake duct while you're doing this surgery. Mine was cracked at the factory weld and caused the car to run like CaCa and threw me a code. I found the leak only after doing a smoke test on the intake system.

    Good fortune with your repairs!

Firebro17 thanks for the part number. The parts guy at my dealer is pretty good. I believe thats the line he ordered for me. I check in the morning and see if thats the one ordered.

TheModFather, thanks hopefully i will get lucky with the part. If not you will be hearing from me.

And thanks to everyone this is what makes MA great. I'll see what happens tomorrow.

For those who may want to work on their own cars, the red part shown in the pic is part of the locking mechanism that keeps the line in the fitting, to release the line - push down on the line and the red retaining ring together, then hold the red ring down and pull the line out. If you do it this way it will come out easily and not break.

This type of fitting is commonly used in industrial air lines, I haven't looked at the supercharger to see if it uses a removable fitting or not, but it seems to me it should be a removable fitting, if so all you need is the correct size of the line and you should be able to easily find them at Grainger or McMaster-Carr online.

    They look like this

Is that fitting like a John Guest type fitting?

Ok so that is it thats the fitting, But I don't see it on McMaster-Carr.
I either buy a SC or a $100 part to get one, not happening. So I talked to one of the Techs about using high temp RTV to make sure it seals. The vacuum pressure is not to low and this should work as long as I seal it well.
Now if I can get the crank pulley off and not break anything els maybe I will get to drive the Mini agin, its only been a month and half.
