Man...There are some great cars on these lists. I don't think it is a coincidence how many similar cars many of us have driven (VW/Muscle). Here are mine: '71 VW SuperBeetle (still in diveway. My mom traded in her '57 T-Bird for a backseat.) '65 Comet Caliente Convertible (With an 8 Track) '63 VW oval window '77 Datsun 200 SX '72 Buick Skylark Custom Convertible '05 Mini Cooper S (First new car)
I started with a '68 (or '69?) Opel Kadett wagon. There, since I've already given you enough to laugh at me about I'll leave it at that. Besides, I drive a MINI now, so there...

Great lists here with some nice classics. I've had just one before my 05 MCS: 2001 Subaru Forester. Hand me down from my dad. It was a great car, took a lot of abuse (sometimes verbal) but held together well. I learned a lot about cars with it and was maintaining/fixing it myself by the time i sold it. Lots of space and decent handling with some free WRX parts I threw on. Also it was slow, not pretty, and got jokes about being a lesbian frequently. I came very close to buying a 91 BMW 318is or a 2003 Impreza WRX instead of my Mini. - Andrew
Seems like as good a way as any to do my first post on this site: #1 - 1963 Dodge Custom 880 Station Wagon (USED - "owned" it for a few months in 1972) Inherited from my dad when he bought his 1971 Plymouth Fury III Ours was all white, with a pale blue interior. It had a 383 ci motor with a 4 bbl carb, and a bizarre 4 spd pushbutton automatic transmission. The thing was massive. I killed it doing burnouts in the driveway. Killed the tranny. Dad sold it to the guy next door for a buck. #2 - 1972 Chevy Vega GT (USED - owned it from Autumn of 1973 to winter of 1975) Mine was metallic bronze. Was going to buy a used VW Beetle with $1000 I saved up out of high school, but Mom liked the way this one looked better, so my folks paid the difference - almost another $1000. I "customized" it by painting the wheel centers to match the metallic bronze body color, added 60 series tires at the rear, painted part of the rear end flat black, added a custom shift handle, and a large MINOLTA logo sticker in each rear side window. It died from water damage in the floorpan, and the motor was crap. #3 - 1971 Plymouth Fury III (USED - owned from 1976 through 1978) Inherited from my dad after he passed away. Dark metallic green, and a huge boat! Had a 318 ci V8. Used it before and after #4, the Volvo. Sold it for rent money. #4 - 1970 Volvo 144 (USED - owned it for most of 1978) Mine was gray with a maroon interior. I was really torn between this and a used Fiat 124 Spyder. At the last minute, I decided on the Volvo, to demonstrate my "maturity"... Ahh regrets... The car had been trashed, and I spent a fortune on repairs. When it finally stopped runing, I kept the seats for my apartment - they were like Recaros. #5 - 1976 VW Scirocco (USED - owned from 1979 - 1983) Mine was metallic green, with a plaid green cloth interior. A single windshield wiper (by design), and a really bad second gear (previous owner abuse) made it interesting! Many water pumps, thermostats, electric fans, and two radiator cores later, I was finally earning enough money to get a new car to replace it! #6 - 1983 Chevy Cavalier (NEW - owned from 1983 through 1985) My first NEW car; I ordered it the way I wanted, including the F41 sport suspension package; red with a gray interior. The bright trim under the rear quarter windows blew off of each side of the car on consecutive days during the first few months of ownership. I guess the glue wore off! The engine started revving high all by itself, and the only fix I could get for it after several attempts at warranty service, was from a mechanic at a local gas station, who retarded the timing by twisting the distributor cap! #7 - 1985 Chrysler Laser (NEW - owned from 1985 through 1988) Another new car, and a big mistake! Mine was metallic blue. I had it all of 4 days before another car hit me in a parking lot and ruined the paint. All of the magazines at the time were touting this as a high-performance car, but I ordered it without the turbo and with an automatic... It was a dog. I liked the "swiss cheese" alloy wheels until they started corroding! Traded it in - at a loss - for the next car: a used Honda Civic Wagon. #8 - 1986 Honda Civic Wagon (USED - owned from 1988 through 1993) Mine was light metallic blue with a blue plaid cloth interior. A great car! Easy to care for, responsive to drive, and tons of usable space. Worked very well on my daily commute on Boston's SE "Expressway". #9 - 1985 Jeep Wrangler (USED - 1993 through 1995) Red with a gray top and interior. This car was a huge mistake, although I did enjoy building my own block & tackle hoist in the yard to remove the hardtop in the summer. Never got to do much off-roading with it in Massachusetts... This one had the Renault transmission, and was miserable to drive in traffic. Tons of elbow room, but the steering wheel location was squeezed way over to the left side, so the driver ended up cramped against the door, leaving a ton of space between driver and passenger. #10 - 1989 Honda Civic Wagon with Real-Time 4WD (USED - Owned 1995 through 1999) Metallic tan with a tan plaid interior. My second Honda Civic Wagon, and this one had the Real-Time Four Wheel Drive, and a 6-spd tranny with a Granny Gear. I liked it so much better than the Jeep, that I started a website club - HORTA - HOnda Real-Time Association. Had a very peppy motor - same one used in the Civic CRX. I installed a cold air intake on this one. Previous owner apparently spent a lot of time driving on the beach: there was sand and rust damage everywhere. Ran it 'til it crapped out while I got my finances back in order. #11 - 1999 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS (NEW - Leased from Fall of 1999 through 2003) Black with a grey interior. I got this one new, at the end of the season. Wanted a white one, but kinda glad I ended up with black. My first real performance car. I was so taken with it that I posted lots of pictures and info on my personal website, including images from the local club NESIC (New England Subaru Impreza Club) meets. I was contacted by Subaru Of America, and they invited me to participate in their Subaru Internet Performance Panel; They flew me out to the 2001 Detroit Auto Show to see the debut of the WRX in the US, and they flew me out to Firebird Raceway in Phoenix to drive the WRX on an autocross course, a road course, and the streets around Phoenix, and to ride with a rally-car driver throwing it sideways. Even though it was leased, I did a few "mods": Cloth "STI" seat covers, "STI" stickers, opened up the non-functional hood scoop for cooling, and installed a Heads-Up Display Shift light. Replaced the stock rubber with Kumho ECSTA Supra 712's. Ended up bringing it with me to California when I moved. Never registered it in Cali though, so very little use of it here. Actually got a cash credit when the lease ended, due to the good shape it was in, and the low miles. (Judy's) - 2001 VW Passat 1.8 Turbo (NEW - Judy owned from late 2000 to present) Judy bought this to replace her 3rd Ford Escort. More room inside than most compact SUV's. Added Mille Miglia "Spyder" wheels and Toyo Proxes. #12 - 2005 MINI Cooper-S Cabrio (NEW - owned from Summer 2005 to present) Liquid Yellow with a gray interior. Went without a car for almost two years, but it was worth it. Both Judy and I have driven it at speed on the Corkscrew (Laguna Seca), and we've had a blast participating in club activities. We've dressed it up for Halloween and for a Tiki contest, and have been all over California in it. _Dave_
Funny, I was thinking the same thing... All cars bought and sold by me unless noted otherwise. Listed in order that they were aquired. 1987 Nissan Maxima (Wrecked; Not my fault) 1986 Dodge Mini Ram Van (Hand-down after the wrecked Maxima) :nonod: 1989 Ford Thunderbird (Got me started on modding) 1973 Lincoln Town Car (Project Car. Bought it for $400 sold it later for $1000) 1992 Mercury Cougar (Had a 5.0 HO motor. Modded. Total Sleeper) 1996 Ford Thunderbird (Mild Modding) 2004 VW Jetta 1.8t (1st new car. I got it with 12 miles on the ODO in December 2003. Wrecked July 2004 with 18,XXX on the odo. Not my fault) 2003 Saab 9-5 Aero (Nifty Car. Crummy Delco electronics though...) 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis (Coutch on wheels, modded, sleeper) 2001 Ford Mustang GT (This caused me to be and still am Mustang crazy.) 2006 VW GTI (I will say this is the best car I have ever owned only because I don't have my Mini yet. I didn't know how good it was until it was gone though.) 2006 Nissan 350Z (Cool car. Needs a V8 though ) 2005 Mustang GT (WAYYYY Modded. Love it but not as much as my GTI.) I've moved to Mini because it has the aspects I loved about the GTI plus more for less money than an equally equipped GTI. BTW, I am 29. I bought my first car at 17. I had that 1989 T-bird for 2 years. Do the math. There are cars i have owned less than a year. I need help...
