This is the best advice I can give you is from my father.
"The best time to find a new job is when you already have a job, so stop bitching about your current job and go get a new one you like"
Yeah my father was a no BS kind of guy and did not sugar coat his feelings. So I guess that's the why I am who I am.![]()

I feel for you, I think everyone has been in that situation once (or more).
I have. And not to rub it in for anyone in that situation but I'm so glad I'm
retired. Its amazing the things one does for your family and yourself. Good
luck.-

And that's why I retired at age 55 back in 1989. I had a job I hated but I stayed too long and allowed myself to get locked in by the benefits I would get at retirement. At that point I had no option but to stick it out. Of course looking back and seeing how everything played out I am grateful I stuck it out. However, it was tough.

My degree is in Elementary Education and now I do project management (which is kind of like working with kindergarteners as far as trying to keep the developers on task and getting the different teams to get along with each other).

Very sorry to hear of your job woes. Lots of difference between managing and leading... Hope you will be into a more positive and productive job environment very soon!

- Sadly, finance. The most boring job in the world.

I wonder how many of us really do what we went to college thinking we wanted to. I know I don't.
This web stuff I do is a far cry from the Marine Ichthyology I studied.-

Any way you can move internally? You've been there for quite a while, so if imagine you know of some managers that are great and that you'd like to work with/for? I also work for a bank, although not in compliance, but I do know that risk and compliance people are highly sought after right now across the industry.
I do a lot of recduiting/on boarding of recent grads, and the one thing I tell all of them is that it's not necessarily the job, but the people. The whole find what you love to do, and do that is worthless if it's with a bad bunch of people. I'd argue that it's most important to find a great group of people and work with them, then it doesn't really matter what you're doing.-
