Ian was at it again this weekend running a 1:39.4 in traffic at Road Atlanta. He beat the old record by 2.5 seconds and the nearest competitor was 4 seconds behind. I'm beginning to think Ian's day job is for a certain TV show and he goes by a single name. I can tell you by some of the posts on the NASA forum there's a lot of people scratching their heads. Here's the lap. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiJB_4UYMb8"]YouTube - TTC Road altanta[/ame] Hopefully the whole MINI community will be behind Ian when he goes for the TTC National Championship at Miller Motorsports Park in September.
....and some of the comments on the NASA forum were.. ...D$mn that Mini was f-f-f-flying and .....that guy's got man bearings.... Remember they were smoking Z06's and the like!!!!
Thanks for sharing and great job... Watching that video bring back my own memories of driving Road Atlanta, albeit, not as quick. That wall exiting 12 looks a lot less menacing on the video.
Ian had a few new goodies in the form of the RMW Head and RMW Race Cam this weekend. If the table was already tilted before it is more so now. From what I hear there were quite a few people taking a very close look at the car trying to find out what made it tick.
Ian has been running the RMW meth kit since before Homestead. I believe the car hadn't yet been tuned for the RMW parts before Homestead where he won the class and missed the class record by a hair. The car was remote tuned and significant revisions to the methanol system were implemented for Sebring. Remember, he's producing these times in the dead heat of summer.
