    And I also came upon this incredible video.

    I love the juxtaposition of then and now shots showing how some locations have changed, but others are exactly the same as they were 45+ years ago.

    Making this film must have been a labor of love for a real fan of the Bullitt movie.

    I remember that Alcatraz show.....

    But that second video was fantastic!

    The original Bullitt chase route is identified on one of the many related web sites. We had a printout of it on our visit to S. F. but, alas, never got to follow it. Steve WAS the man!

    The chase is spliced together from short scenes shot at different locations. Often the cars turn an corner and go up a street in another part of town. You can visit the individual locations where they filmed, but the chase scene in the movie doesn't have a coherent "route" that can be followed.

    I loved the appearance(s) of the green VW in the first video. I'm sure if the new Charger had hubcaps they would have included them flying off too!

    The second video was incredible. Love how the filmmaker even inserted himself into a few of the original scenes.


    I saw the movie Bullitt the first time when I was a mere kid and that incredible chase left a lasting impression on my young mind. Same for the original Italian Job movie - that definitely sealed my passion for the classic Mini, which of course led the current MINI.

    In an interview with the director, he noted that the collision (at 8:30 or so) with a parked car and the cameraman behind it required a new cameraman as the collision was a mistake, not planned. Though it did make a great shot.

    When Bullitt came out I enjoyed being the BMOC in my office for a while. I had the sister to the Bullitt Mustang only it was yellow (the Hairy Canary)!.
