i saw that 8C in person at Cars Coffee last year. it's gorgeous, i especially love the interior and the rear diffuser. my goodness, that machine is so loud it literally made the ground shake and my heart skip a beat. and i swear i saw clouds move away from the area
If I had a five car garage....... I would have three cars in spots 1-3 and then a few motorcycles occupying spots 4&5. So....... Cars Lotus Exige Mini Cooper S 'project' Midlana (see Midlana.com) Bikes Triumph Speed Triple for street duty Triumph 675 Daytona setup for track duty Ducati Hypermotard (street) KTM 690 SMC (single) for supermoto use KTM 250 SX 2-stroke for dirt use. Yamaha RD350LC for sentimental reasons Yamaha RZ 250 for track days BMW HP2 Sport for giggles
Someone beat me to the Alfa. 1. C8 in White 2. Range Rover Sport 3. My Mini 4. Lotus 7 clone (preferably Honda powered) 5. CTS-V Wagon
I do have a five-car garage, and then some. Unfortunately, it's everybody else's cars that are rolling in and out of here. I'm 2/5ths of the way toward my dream garage (of the moment), starting with: 1. Bionic Clown Shoe 2. My 1970 RSR clone with 3.2 liter motronic motor (with rod knock--needs a rebuild) And now for the spittle on the keyboard set: 3: electricity, man: it's the future--and I've driven it! 4: Or, for mere mortals, without 120 large to throw at a 300 hp blowdryer: 5: I drove one of these recently. Very sexy.
There is a guy who lives near me that drives a Tesla. My reaction to it is always twofold: 1. Hey, that's a lotus. 2. WTF? It's not making any noise. Call me old fashioned, but cars need to make noise.
So true! When electric cars become the norm, I'm sure we will have aftermarket products like faux exhausts that make some noise for the electric cars. ("Transform your car into the growling sports car of the old days!")
One bay would have a lift, and be a wash/detailing bay. The next bay would be for the teardrop and a Moke One bay for the Clubman One bay for my 03 MC Last bay for a 53 Chevy 1/2 ton for hauling stuff. I like the loft idea, but instead I would build an annex for my woodworking shop. Mark
I felt the same way until i drove it. It's a different and cool sensation to have your eyeballs pushed to the backside of your skull with no noise other than the tires scrabbling and the slight high-pitched hum (like barely squeezing a variable speed cordless drill). It was like riding on a magic carpet that cornered. Just afterwards, I drove a highly-tuned 335i that we were finishing at the shop. It wasn't much slower than the Tesla, but for the first time in my life, hearing the exhaust was a little disappointing: like it was the sound of yesterday. I'm not saying that there's no longer a place for good ol' internal combustion noise, but future e-vehicles won't be boring--I promise.
You can all have your electric cars. When they go mainstream, that means more gasoline for the enthusiasts.
1. My JCW 2. 427 Cobra (a real aluminum one) 3. 69 Z28 (302 Solid Lifter Motor) 4. 32 Ford 3 Window (ZZ Top Mobile) 5. 67 Corvette 427/425 Fastback OK, OK, I'm an old gearhead:blush2:
I was watching an episode of Top Gear (UK) and saw a car I wanted to add to my list but I now realize this thread was one of the massacred casualties of the big data dump of early 2010 and my list (among many others I think) is gone! Time for a bump... Here's my (current) list. 1 - Caterham CSR: 2 - Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe: 3 - BMW M Coupe (Z3 version) -- Eric's "Bionic Clown Shoe": 4 - Lancia Stratos: 5 - My 2002 R50 MINI Cooper. I love this car and still grin when I drive it. *6 - I know, "5-car" garage, but my utilitarian-ish vehicle can live outdoors. Since I like it, I'll keep my 2007 Honda Element for that job.
Just realized I am betting .600 on this list. Got a feeling the last .400 gonna be a biatch..:incazzato:
