What prompted my question was a posting accusing Hillary of seven different acts. I wondered if the poster had actual proof of those seven accusations or if perhaps he had consumed too much kool-aid.

So much for a comment from our rep from the "City of Brotherly Love". My vote was not a waste for I voted for a man who has exhibited principles, unlike those who voted for either of those two bungholes who certainly wasted theirs.

Isn't it an amazing thing, that we've become such a divided bunch over the course of the last eight years. There's the change very few expected.

 

My 93 year old grandfather, who served in the Navy on an aircraft carrier in the Pacific during WWII, would disagree. We had a lengthy discussion about the election last weekend and told me he had zero confidence in Trump as Commander in Chief.

Well that's good to know. You're lucky to still have him around to enjoy those conversations.

I lost my Dad seven years ago. He served in almost eight years in the Army during WWII, mostly in the South Pacific. I knew his viewpoint about pretty much everything, including politics. I'm certain he'd not have approved of this election cycle. But, he would have voted the same as we did. And for all the right reasons.

As a republican I take offense to your broad strokes that we don't support the same things you do.

Do I care bout gay marriage? Nope, they want to be screwed by the same tax laws that I do then by all means join the party.

I do not care what any women decides to do with her uterus. It's hers. However, I have the right to believe it is wrong to kill an unborn child.

As for religion, the only one that is persecuted in this country today is christians. We are the only ones that are not tolerated. If Islam says that women are a lower class and they must serve their husbands and walk behind them and dress a certain way; that is all defended by the left and if you disagree then you are a islamaphob. (If you think I am exaggerating then come watch my next door neighbors and how the treat their wives and daughters.

But if you are a Christian and were raised with the Bible and taught that thou shalt not kill, or that birth control is wrong, or that the definition of marriage is a man and a women, there is zero respect from the left for those beliefs. And then the snarky comments and such start coming.

I'm pretty tired of all the continuous intolerance of others that don't agree with dem thinking.

I would vote for the Devil himself before I would vote for Hillary. At least the Devil once made it to heaven.

 

From a party platform, the Republican Party does not support the things I called out. I agree that there are items that individual Republicans may support. I believe that everybody should be entitled to their religious beliefs (or non-beliefs for that matter), but one group's beliefs should not be the basis of laws for everyone. You want pray in school, fine but it must be allowed for all religious beliefs. We have heard that marriage between a man and a woman is based on procreation, so any man and woman who chose not to/can't have children should be forced to end their marriage. Birth control/abortion is wrong, come up with a plan to assist unwanted children who are born as a result of those wrongs.

For the record I was raised Catholic, but have drifted away because I struggle with much of the doctrine. I will say that the current Pope has my attention, but I also have learned that I personally do not need a deity to allow me to show compassion to my fellow humans.

Reading this, I realize how all over the place I am, my views probably offend everyone.

B.A.D., what you said about being raised catholic, and moving away from it because many of their doctrines, I could have written that about myself.

05r50, I agree with virtually everything you wrote--I've voted republican for a bazillion years; I'm fiscally conservative, but socially more liberal--personally I detest abortion, but I don't believe it's my or anyone's place to legislate it (The republican conundrum: preaching small government and fewer regulations across the board--except on social issues that go against their personal religious views).

I don't believe christians are persecuted, but I do believe they are marginalized, and do not have the same freedom of speech or expression as other groups--it's acceptable to ridicule Christians, and Christian beliefs, but everyone else is supposed to be tolerated and treated with respect. New term: "Christian Guilt."

I am not trying to wave a banner with this--I really don't believe in any religion anymore (But still believe in a god, go figure), and I respect anyone's choice in what they believe. And I believe the left's intolerance of the right is just as bad as the right's intolerance of the left, but it's more acceptable in today's society to be in the former group. Personally, I could go without either.

 

And it looks like Trump is going to win--unbelievable how two weeks can make such a huge difference.

I don't know what the future holds, but love or hate Trump, there is one bright side: these elections should spell the end of pants suits. RIP.
