Started at the wound clinic today. Boy do I wish I knew a local nurse or at least a non-squeamish person to help me with repacking the wound. Hurts like the dickens to do it and doesn't help that I have to do this myself.
Otherwise I feel decent. Walking is getting easier. Still can't sit at my desk for more than about 45 min before my leg really bothers me. This isn't conducive to creating billable, mostly keeping my head above water with email and putting out the biggest fires. Not gaining any ground...yet.
Can't thank the local folks enough for all the help, rides, shipping stuff, domestic help, etc etc etc. It is inspiring me to want to volunteer more of my time to those that need some assistance.-

I've done the wound vac before. It was a much bigger hole. This one is not the same diameter or depth that the one that had was.
The pack is medicated.
Also was asked to be part of a study, Trans-epidermal water loss as skin barrier function predictor in humans. I agreed to be studied.-

A friend said her 8 Yellow Lab puppies, now 6 weeks old, were wearing her out this morning! so I raced over for quick photo op. I hope you enjoy these. Good work Nathan!!! Oh, and if anyone is interested, they're all available for adoption.

More than just a snail. There are various species of crabs, live corals and even a fish. I did ask permission first.

I could of been just walking by the car there. Nothing shows I actually drove it.

I, also, recommend melatonin. It makes me drowsy so I can fall asleep quickly and easily, though its effects for me are short term and it doesn't make me stay asleep.
Given your likely daily load of drugs I agree you should talk to a doc before adding anything. Interaction consideration is more important than most of us know. Plus some docs have very strong opinions about melatonin. Even if he likes the idea he'll probably be pretty concerned with dosage.-

Melatonin is safe in low doses, BUT, it's effect as a sleep aid are vastly overrated. The best studies I've seen show no improvement over placebo as a sleeping pill. There is placebo effect of about thirty percent. There is also a difference between the grogginess some people get with melatonin and good sleep.
Where it makes the most sense is in people who's circadian rhythm is screwed up, and this may be your issue as it's not uncommon for that to happen after major surgery, and in the winter for people who have issues with sleep cycles being interfered with by changes in the light cycle.
I always thought it would be a good study to use melatonin in patients who "sundown"--a common phenomenon in older and/or very sick patients after major surgery or with a major medical issue that puts them in the ICU and basically get their days and nights reversed. It's not my area, but I'm surprised no one has done it, because patients who sundown are very difficult to manage.
In low doses, it's not going to be harmful, but for the average person with sleep issues it's effects are overrated.-
