Nathan, 40 lbs, you are a wisp of your former self. Congratulations. :)

Good to see you keeping the mind active (confusion with meds is always a problem), I do suggest a talk with your Doc, perhaps change out something.

    Keep it up.

    Don

I'll take some'a that jelly out here dude! Also, I think a money clip is the only way'ta go. I can't stand all that extra bulk in my a$$ pocket causing unnecessary pain in my low back when sitting down... No worries about losing my cash either when it's up front.

I've carried my cash in a money clip for decades now.

A few years ago a gave up my fat wallet. Forced myself to put all I REALLY needed into a skinny front pocket wallet Like This that rides in my front pocket with my money clip. No bulk.

Just keep my ID, CC permit, insurance card, debit card and three credit cards (1 business / 2 personal). Plus a folded up blank check and an emergency C note. It was torture making myself give up the other 72 things I had in my old wallet. But I have NEVER needed any of it, once done. I used to carry that in my car for a while, but no longer.

Lol... they make several versions of this wallet... I like the simple one that I lined to that has 2 card slots on either side plus a slot in the middle that i use for cash. If you are using this as a wallet organizer, YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG! :p

They also have one with a money clip on one side, a version with a see-thru ID window on one side and another with a zipper compartment in the center.

Gaining and losing weight like that has to be water retention, right?

This all sounds again like a meds issue to me. I swear, I think modern medications sometimes do more harm than good!

I'm off of everything I was taking except an aspirin a day and a vitamin, I felt so much better every time I eliminated a med.... only with Doc's approval, of course......I hate taking pills.

Ask your doc for whatever meds you can stop or reduce.....I'm no doctor and I did not stay at a Holiday Inn express last night, but having BTDT, I'm betting you're over medicated - badly.

it was fluids. yes. Why, I have no farking clue.

Conversation with Doc went along these lines.

Doc: Woah, you gained a lot of weight.

Me: Yep, lookie here, it went to my legs.

Doc looks at what are called legs but are now flesh colored tree trunks with no definition.

Doc: Looks like we need to get you on a diuretic.

Me: I am, lasix every evening.

Doc: Take it twice a day.

    Me: Why did this happen:

Doc: you eat to much salt.

Me: Did you read any of the report from the nutritionist.

    Doc: Yeah, I skimmed it.

Me: (as Doc is pressing various parts of what look like elephant legs but are mine.) Welp, I don't add salt to my cooking. I know my butcher, baker, and fish guy, shop for veggies and fruits at the farmers markets and don't eat fast food.

Doc: Hmmm, wonder why you retained all this fluid. Keep your legs up more when you work.

Me...realizing this is going no place just went along with the rest of the examination. On the way out in my packet was a 10 page print out on how to cut sodium from your diet.

It's rather frustrating at times. These people literately have my life in their hands.

Coffee and alcohol are diuretics and are much easier to take than a pill.

Ask if you can see another doctor since this one has his head up his ass.

My mother had this exact problem because her body could not get fluid out of her body when she sat in chair for hours at a time with her feet down on the floor.

The solution is get up and walk along with putting your feet up when you are sitting down. Never sit with you feet down on the floor, always put them up.

With your heart issue your worst enemy is gravity in relation to water retention.

The problem with the stockings is I have dermatitis, tight coverings in those area exacerbate the issue. I don't wear socks due to this.

Don't drink and I've killed off my coffee habit. I have one now and again just because I enjoy the flavor.

P.S. Lasix's should be taken in the morning not night time.

You not going to move water out of you body all night while you lay asleep in bed...... unless you like getting up to pee every hour.

It is an interesting thing in working with a teaching hospital.

Show up with a heart attack and you get some of the worlds best care. Highly talented and respected cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, nurses and staff take incredible care of you. All while one is a case study for students, fellows and interns. Then you are fixed up and out of their day to day care. Lots of education is proffered, followups with other specialists skill sets are made.

Then you get back to your primary care doc in the university health care system. Because really, one does need to pick a system in one's region and work with them. At least it seems to me that is how health care is going to work for a while. This is where things get a little more iffy. My primary care doc was awesome, I saw him twice, he spent a lot of time with me learning all about me. Then, because he is an intern he rotated to another program for 3 months. Then he'll be back. Till then there is a revolving door of interns that are doing their 3 month here is what it is like to be PCP rotation.

My regular doc has another two years as a PCP resident or intern or whatever it this stage is called. I get confused. I just know that long white coat = Doc, short white coat = student.

Dealing with health care is its own little world, not one I've much experience in navigating. The curve is steep. It can be rather time consuming as well.

So far it is better than the alternative.

^^^ thanks for backing me up doc.

My mother had CHF for a long time before it took her from us a few years ago. I was her primary at home caregiver and took her to all her appointments. I learned all about her meds and Lasix and when she should and should not take them. She had to take a lot of them because she retained A LOT of water in her calfs and ankles to other point they opened and seeped water. I had to have this had to be addressed by taking her the hospital wound center to have her legs wrapped weekly.
