Latest update.
Brain is still foggy, having trouble concentrating, this is affecting my work. Did an experiment to see which of the drug cocktail is causing this. It's the beta-blocker that I sorta really do need to take for a while longer that helps with keeping my heart running. Sorta important I guess...
Wound clinic is down to one more visit in a month. They hurt me real good today digging round in there to make sure it was no longer deep. It's not!
Started Cardiac Rehab today too. They beat me up real good there and promised to do it again Mon, Wed and Thurs for the next 12 weeks.
The restrictions I had to not lift any more than 10lbs have been lifted too. I can take out my own trash again, yay.

Week two of Cardiac Rehab complete, ten weeks to go.
This week I had a stress test. I did better than they thought I would, or they are great cheerleaders, either way it is just a baseline at this point. This coming week starts resistance training to go with the cardio work. I'm looking forward to it.
Still not sleeping well, yet I have energy to burn. Bouncing all over the place I've turned in some odd version of Martha Stewart. In the past week besides reorganizing my large herb and spice collection I picked up some wild idea to can stuff. The farmers market is bountiful place with lots of new and exciting good things to peruse, pickle, preserve and prepare. See...
Missed my doc appt to discuss sleep issues. I had the wrong time on my calendar. Oh well, have to wait another 10 days. It's been 2 months since I slept right, whats another 10 days.
I just wish I could focus, it's easy to jump from thing to thing so long as those things are not mentally taxing. Sit in front of the PC and the mind goes somewhat blank. This too shall hopefully pass.-

Another week has passed so a little status report on me...
Started a course - Mindfulness in Motion. I'm keeping a very open mind with this, I want to work on things to help my re-find my center, so to speak.
The Bad
The drugs are taking their toll on me mentally.
Sleep eludes me for the most part.
Appetite is gone
The Good
Lost a little more weight. I'm thinking I will make my goal set at the beginning of Cardiac Rehab. 4 More of those session and I graduate from Rehab on the 22. Tried to line up TBDBITL to come and play. Unfortunately, they have to pass.
Appetite is gone - Wasn't that also in The Bad section. Yep, we do need to eat to fuel our bodies. While it's great for weight loss it's not so great for ones health. To counter this I make sure I only eat good healthy things right now. The local Juice Bar has been my restaurant of choice lately. I've taken a liking to their mix of fennel, mint, parsley, celery, cucumber and apple. We'll see what my nutritionist says on Monday. She's been after me to eat more. Just writing that last sentence has me laughing.
Clocked in at just of 40 miles of walking this past week too. The pace is getting better. I'm finally consistently under a 20 minute mile. I should chart the miles driven a week too, then compare.
Berry jams are winding down, the season is over. Working on beets lately, some various pickling potions. These take time to age. The jury is very much still out on these. Apples are starting, time to start experimenting with Apple Butter variants. I'm thinking of a Chipotle Apple Pie Spice with some tart apples to start with.
Been writing a whole lot in my journal too.
That's the news this week from M/A World H/Q. Where we've yet to come up with a witty slogan.-

This is the first time I've looked back at these pictures. I am so happy I did. Felt myself sliding down into another period of despair. These 4 pictures stopped and reversed that slide.

Ok, that was fun.
Like I said, don't want to turn into a debate about or health care system.
Like any large organism there are multiple moving parts. It is easy for us to sit here and pick off the low hanging fruit to toss at each other. All that is going to do is make a mess and possibly stain my new shirts.
Please don't stain my new shirts, They will only be mine for a scant few months till I shrink out of them. Think of the Volunteers of America thrift store customer that purchases my donated, now to large for me, shirts. Must they suffer stains from flying fruit?
Oh the humanity...-

Gain a bunch of weight, let it turtle a bit. After you've gained ninety or so pounds, get a new girlfriend, then join Jenny Craig or do South Beach or some other totally effective and trendy diet, lose the weight rapidly, and you will become a legend of genital rejuvenation. Do the Brett Farve thing--take a few selfies and send them to some hot reporter (a female scribe would probably be your best bet), become famous, do some online streaming, write a book about the entire experience, and suddenly you have enough dough for a 2.0 L stroker, TVS, and a ball peen hammer to put some proper dents in the rat rod. Just a thought off the top of my head.

Broken ribs hurt and take awhile to heal. You've got a new challenge now, it's going to slow you down a bit for he next few weeks. Time to reset goals--don't worry so much about losing weight, just maintain what you've accomplished for the next few weeks until it no longer feels like you're stuck in a revolving door with a spear in your chest.
When you have to take a Percocet every time you laugh, that just plain sucks. Or maybe it doesn't....-

Follow-up with the Trauma Surgeon today.
Got the OK to get back to working out. Was told to watch it with the weights and then when it it hurts, stop.
Also gave me a script for more percocet, even though I didn't ask. He said it's for those days when I don't stop soon enough.
Now for that delicate balance of pushing myself but not too much.-

Why on the plane you ask...
My nephew, seen here in the center with the yellow shirt, just turned 7
I had them stick out their tongues for this group shop. I tried to get them all to chew on a cookie then open their mouths for another picture. My sister-in-law put the kibosh on that one...grrrr...

Been some time since I've reported in.
The Good...
I'm on fewer meds. Both my body and wallet like that.
The hernia is a non issue for now according to the cat scan.
The Bad...
I've been rather depressed lately. No need for speculation, working through it with therapy.
Gained weight, not a lot, but it is not the direction I want to be headed.
So that's the news from M/A World HQ where we now have better wireless interwebs locally.-

Visited the Cardiologist today for a six month checkup. Things are going well. I should lose more weight, keep up the good wok. He's given me a goal to drop 25lbs by the next visit in 6 months. My own goal is a little more than that number for the same time frame.
