Enjoy the car show, stop and smell the roses (oops no cats at the show I hope). Have a great weekend, good to hear you are cutting the meds a bit, but do what you need to do to get all the rest you can. Don
Hello Elvis. Nice pose! Yesterday was good, I bit off a little to much again. Probably should not of gone for that 10 pm people watching walk. But it was also Gallery Hop in the neighborhood. I should of taken a camera. I saw Pokeman Zombies, honest, it was not the Vicodin. Today I'll be relaxing. A huge thanks to Pam and Hanna for coming over and helping with the shipping and domestic stuff. It's so very helpful.
I see that you all shipped my goodies Nathan. Thanks very much!! I'da waited just fine till we landed at the track in a couple weeks, but appreciate what you did just the same. Thank you!
It was just easier to to ship then have them hanging around and me going...OK, who got this one. Besides, while I do plan on making it up to Mid-Ohio at least on the Friday it is not etched in stone yet. This healing thing is going a little slower than I want. Mostly my own fault by letting that leg issue turn into a major thing. Funny, no one wants the pictures I've taken of the hole in my leg. Started at the wound clinic today. Boy do I wish I knew a local nurse or at least a non-squeamish person to help me with repacking the wound. Hurts like the dickens to do it and doesn't help that I have to do this myself. Otherwise I feel decent. Walking is getting easier. Still can't sit at my desk for more than about 45 min before my leg really bothers me. This isn't conducive to creating billable, mostly keeping my head above water with email and putting out the biggest fires. Not gaining any ground...yet. Can't thank the local folks enough for all the help, rides, shipping stuff, domestic help, etc etc etc. It is inspiring me to want to volunteer more of my time to those that need some assistance.
One of my late wife's surgeons once told me it would make his life a lot easier if people came with built-in zippers. :biggrin5: Sounds like the leg is actually the bigger problem though at this point. I've done that. It wasn't fun and I'm normally the squeamish type but I learned I could turn that off temporarily to focus on doing the deed. Sorry I'm not closer. I think fear of the unknown was my biggest problem and once I was told exactly what to expect and exactly what to do it turned into something bearable.
Have they suggested a wound vac for the leg? Not sure if it would be appropriate other than the packing you are doing, it the pack for absorbing or it it a medicated pack? Wound vacs are used for those little or big pesky wounds that do not want to heal, they keep the area dryer. Just a thought. Of course most times they are used for folks who are in bed and not wanting to move around much. Don Do hope that gets resolved soon. Best to you...
I've done the wound vac before. It was a much bigger hole. This one is not the same diameter or depth that the one that had was. The pack is medicated. Also was asked to be part of a study, Trans-epidermal water loss as skin barrier function predictor in humans. I agreed to be studied.
Hey Nathan, just stopping by to say hi and get well soon and such, sending good thoughts and prayers your way... Leon
Thanks everyone. Nothing new to report today. It's been fairly quiet here. Keep going on walks and trying to accomplish a little more each day. Still shooting for the goal of spending most of the day June 27 at Mid-Ohio for the Can-Am challenge. Some people think I'm nuts for wanting to attend so soon. Others are supporting my goal. I'm looking forward to 2 things right now. Getting the OK to drive again and starting cardiac rehab. I do worry a little that my slightly modded MINI might beat the carp out of me when I start driving again.
Yes, but look how far you've come already! Just keep making steady progress, and don't try to rush it. If you're going to Mid-O, consider renting a golf cart for the weekend, it makes life so much easier when walking is difficult - it will allow you to enjoy the weekend instead of worrying or suffering - cause if it's hot out, you will be miserable otherwise.
....and see if you can get a temporary handicapped tag for the car. They may even offer a cart if you have the tag.
