Woohoo. Great doc visits today. First was the surgeon. This was my last visit with him. He's happy with the things are healing. Have me a letter stating I can drive again on June 26, just a short 10 days from today. Woohoo Next was off to the wound clinic for the hole in my leg. That has cleared up very nicely. The tunnel where a vein was harvested has closed up cleanly. My next appt is in 2 weeks. Not having to go back in a week speaks volumes. Was wearing a MINI hat today. Doc asks if I own one. Turns out his daily driver is a chile red/ black one. Of course I gave him a M/A card and invited him to donuts. Hopefully he'll join the site.
Um, perhaps we could sign him up for the kickball game next year at MOTD!!!:biggrin5::biggrin5::biggrin5: we need a lot more participation.....
Things seem to be progressing well. 3 Days and no Vicodin! Shoulder pain is gone, hole in leg is getting small, no longer can fit a golf ball in there. Still some chest pain from the incision. It is becoming manageable for the most part. A cough, sneeze or laugh hurts a good bit. Got to stop watching the Daily Show. I fade in the afternoon, the time is getting later. All is not peaches and cream, still have trouble concentrating. I tried to work on some code the other day. Heh, that went horribly. I know I owe some of you Swag and stuff you ordered. I'll be working on that real soon. Thanks all for the support, rides, texts, cards and offers of help.
Don't feel too badly, it's only been a month......give yourself time, you're not as young as you used to be and it takes longer to recover when you're older. It's a process, one step at a time, so don't try to rush it...... The most important thing is to keep breathing and make steady progress. That's one of the hardest lessons I've had to learn as I've gotten older, you really can't do what you used to, at least at the same pace. So, slow down, relax, and let nature do her thing. We're all behind you.
Welp.... The Gnatster just escaped from my MINI cave.... It's out running in the wild, scaring squirrels from the neighborhood again.... I did notice the driver had a smile on his face (or was it a grimace).... No it was a smile... Welcome back Nathan....
Drove Gnat today. Not far, just a few miles. Going to take some more time before a road trip is in the cards. Hurts chest a bit to steer. Have to discuss that with rehab folks next weeks. See what we can do to get that fixed up quicker. Would really like to be able to drive to Pittsburgh for the GP on the weekend of July 19. Oh yeah, washed it too, dang was it dusty.
Congrats!! Life continues to get back to "normal".... And your independence is starting to return!! Good work!!
