Ewwwwww... :frown2: Ewwwwww x2... :frown2: Now, where did I put that roll of quarters? Butterflies and rainbows and freshly waxed MINIs… (Reset thread before Nathan gets here.)
Getting back to where we were..sorta... Just got back from going to the Volunteers of America thrift store where I donated all of my now too big for me winter clothes.
Nathan, congrats on all your weight loss but don't get rid of your large winter coats. You could have them cut up and have a nice car cover made for your MINI this Winter. :ihih::eek6::lol:
Ok, so it has been a really farking weird past weeks or so... In the past two weeks I have... Gained and lost a small child Forgot my keys, only once. Dropped my keys under the staircase that leads to my front door. Ran a red light. Got 2 parking tickets Rather odd weeks for me. I don't get parking tickets, I know better dammit. 3.5 years here and nary a ticket, then 2 in two weeks. Car was almost towed too. I was lucky. This key thing was getting out of hand. I never forgot my keys before. Never ever, ever. This has been rectified. Heh, I am so glad there was a not camera around when I had to climb over a dumpster, crawl under the stairs and then do it in reverse. That small child I found then lost...Starting on the 15th I was gaining weight, not a just a little either. In 10 days I gained 38 lbs. The docs were like..WTF! I got seriously depressed. To the point I wondered why I even try. As of this morning I am exactly where I was on the 15th weight wise now. I feel a hell of a lot better too. I was really feeling lousy. Like I don't want to get out of bed lousy. This seems to have now passed too allowing me share this all. Lets see... I also manged to piss off my best friend enough that we went from talking daily to a few text messages every few days. We've worked that back out. I've annoyed a vendor enough to the point where rightly so I was publicly humiliated. I earned it. I'll fix it. On the bright side, my journal has never seen so much writing activity. This has been quite the adventure. Cancer was easy compared to this. The swings in both mood and physiology have been incredibly broad. Oh yeah, I'm getting pretty good at very small batch jam making too. Been kinda thinking about developing this site too...Prehipstoric Man » Hipster Tips for Cavemen For I didn't realize it but I was hip before hipsters were identified as a sub genre of the species. Oh well...the adventure continues. See ya next Wednesday.
Hang in there! we are pulling for you Nathan. The first rule of winning a fight is to stay in the fight. your in my payers.
Gaining and losing weight like that has to be water retention, right? This all sounds again like a meds issue to me. I swear, I think modern medications sometimes do more harm than good! I'm off of everything I was taking except an aspirin a day and a vitamin, I felt so much better every time I eliminated a med.... only with Doc's approval, of course......I hate taking pills. Ask your doc for whatever meds you can stop or reduce.....I'm no doctor and I did not stay at a Holiday Inn express last night, but having BTDT, I'm betting you're over medicated - badly.
it was fluids. yes. Why, I have no farking clue. Conversation with Doc went along these lines. Doc: Woah, you gained a lot of weight. Me: Yep, lookie here, it went to my legs. Doc looks at what are called legs but are now flesh colored tree trunks with no definition. Doc: Looks like we need to get you on a diuretic. Me: I am, lasix every evening. Doc: Take it twice a day. Me: Why did this happen: Doc: you eat to much salt. Me: Did you read any of the report from the nutritionist. Doc: Yeah, I skimmed it. Me: (as Doc is pressing various parts of what look like elephant legs but are mine.) Welp, I don't add salt to my cooking. I know my butcher, baker, and fish guy, shop for veggies and fruits at the farmers markets and don't eat fast food. Doc: Hmmm, wonder why you retained all this fluid. Keep your legs up more when you work. Me...realizing this is going no place just went along with the rest of the examination. On the way out in my packet was a 10 page print out on how to cut sodium from your diet. It's rather frustrating at times. These people literately have my life in their hands.
Ask if you can see another doctor since this one has his head up his ass. My mother had this exact problem because her body could not get fluid out of her body when she sat in chair for hours at a time with her feet down on the floor. The solution is get up and walk along with putting your feet up when you are sitting down. Never sit with you feet down on the floor, always put them up. With your heart issue your worst enemy is gravity in relation to water retention.
Compression stockings can help too, especially if they harvested vein from your leg. Using coffee and alcohol as a diuretic, not a great idea with venous insufficiency...
