Hang in there Nathan. You can make it thru this. I hope sleep comes to you cause not getting enough sucks, I know.
Rare mid-week update from M/A World HQ. Just getting back from a stress test. Since the last one 11 weeks ago I've lost 6" around the middle, 21 lbs, which is 1 over goal for the period and increased my work ability by 15%. The formal cardiac rehab program ends this coming Monday for me. This does not mean I have completed my personal rehab. Fortunately Ohio State gives a free 30 day membership to the same facility with the same people and same level of care to all graduates of their Cardiac Rehab program. After that I qualify for a very reduced rate to continue with them. $50 a quarter. Thank you Martha Morehouse, whomever you were, for these facilities. The journey continues.
For those of you playing the home game... If you picked 5.4 for the latest A1C you would be correct. Sorry those of that decided to stick with the previous 11.2 reading.
OH! I would pay big bucks for a 5.4, my Doc would probably take me off meds with a 5.4. Wow! Great job, will I recognize you next time we see each other at an event? Don
Give the jam the credit, it'll help it sell. Maybe make a special low sugar batch, something red, and call it Hgb A1C 5.4, in memory of the occasion.
This is the first time I've looked back at these pictures. I am so happy I did. Felt myself sliding down into another period of despair. These 4 pictures stopped and reversed that slide.
Smile Bud! You're vertical and above the turf. That makes it a very good day, after day after day after day.....
Vertical is good, and does make for a very good day, but it's important to get some good quality horizontal time in, doesn't have to be every day, just a few minutes here and there periodically--that makes for an even better day (or night).
Today is... Graduation Day for me from Phase 2 of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Program. Wednesday I enter the next step: Fitness Maintenance Program: An ongoing program that helps you maintain an exercise routine and offers continued staff and peer support.
I think the support part of the next phase might be one of the more important things since you had your surgery. If you're getting most of your exercise now by walking, might be hard to self-motivate when the weather turns. Similar to the problem I'll have this winter since nearly all my exercise this year has been on a self-propelled 2-wheeled vehicle. "Walking is man's best medicine." ~Hippocrates (full disclosure: don't know whether Hippocrates ever really said that, I read it somewhere...still good advice, just keep moving)
