Congratulations on the progress Nathan, sounding like you are ahead of the game. CYA healthcare, try it when you are 68, seems my Doc of many years has changed how he looks at me as I got over 65. Not making me happy, but I only go yearly anyway unless I am really piss-poor sick. Makes me wonder, but back to topic. Get better and enjoy life. Don
Started something new.... I've been talking about doing this for some time. My Short North Life Finally did it.
Change of pace this week. Was stuck for like 3 weeks at the same weight. Finally started dropping again. Added a new class, Back to Basics - A 1 hour class designed to focus on the basics of strength, balance, and flexibility using a variety of fitness equipment. Basically the personal trainer that has been working with me all along now spends an hour with a few of us at once and inflicts pain. Like 3 sets of 25 Calf Raises. If you look like it is too easy a hand on your shoulder will help make it just a bit more difficult. Saw the hand doc about my carpel tunnel issues today. Get sliced next week! Did not expect to get into surgery so fast. Better start working on getting that left hand doing things for a bit. So much for doing chin ups for a few weeks...I'm not quite to the point where I could do them anyway, much less do them with one hand. Mentally things are getting much better. Wow, thanks modern big pharma, this stuff actually helps. Now to ween off it and not go back to being a blathering idiot...
Yeah, it was just too easy, Nate just lobbed that one up there. There's no degree of difficulty whatsoever. When he mentioned his left hand, I was going to mention it's good to see he's dating again, but then that's just plain rude.
I've decided to postpone the Carpel Tunnel Surgery for now. To much going on to deal with not having a right hand for a month. I know I lobbed one right there is the sweet spot as soon as I hit Post Quick Reply.
Nate--all joking aside--the recovery from Carpal tunnel is very quick, I'd get it done (I know guys who do them right in the office). There's never going to be a good time.
I have the car coming back next week too. Also have a client site going live at the end of the week. The date is rescheduled for January 14 with me going to visit family 2 days later. This is a much better time.
Always good to see a better plan Nathan. With your car coming back, it would be a beotch not being able to enjoy a few runs before the weather turn to crap. Good planning, get better, it appears time is on your side.
Another week, not much change here. I have to admit I've been phoning it in this week in my physical activity. I'm tired. I need a break for a few days. The 10k + steps a day is still the goal and since Sept 12 I've not missed that goal. Sleep is still odd, but getting better. Head is a bit of a mess still. I've learned of Postperfusion syndrome where symptoms are subtle and include defects associated with attention, concentration, short term memory, fine motor function, and speed of mental and motor responses. This postperfusion syndrome is also known as Pump Head. Physicians have theorized that the syndrome is caused by tiny debris and air bubbles (microemboli) that enter the brain via cardiopulmonary bypass. Basically, when they hook you up the heart machine it knocks stuff loose that get stuck in your brain. They say it passes in time. I'm going to bring this up with my therapist in the Cardiopulmonary Behavioral Medicine Clinic come Monday.
A great idea, indeed! Skinny Nate Bobble head Dolls! It will be all the rage at MOTD! I I'll take 4 please! 1 for each of us in our lil' Denver convoy.
More clothing though (I really hope)!!! Nathan, how is your sense of taste? Talked to a few folks with similar procedures and they often mention a dulled sense of taste....then again, sounds like you have upped the quality of the intake to the point you might not notice!
I've been told I have no taste...(insert drum shot here)... My tastes and sense of taste has changed quite a bit. Prepared foods with a lot of salt are horrible tasting now. Cheap meats like at Jimmy Johns or Subway are now horrid. Most sweets are too sweet now too. My sense of taste has become a lot sharper. I can identify depth of flavor like never before. It's been fun coming up with some rather unique combinations. Yesterday I pickled some turnips with Star Anise, Coriander, Mustard Seed, Juniper Berries and smoked Garlic Habanero infused Black Peppercorns. This afternoon I snacked on some carrots I pickled back in July with a traditional 5 spice blend.
