Broken ribs hurt and take awhile to heal. You've got a new challenge now, it's going to slow you down a bit for he next few weeks. Time to reset goals--don't worry so much about losing weight, just maintain what you've accomplished for the next few weeks until it no longer feels like you're stuck in a revolving door with a spear in your chest.

When you have to take a Percocet every time you laugh, that just plain sucks. Or maybe it doesn't....

    Nathan....
Seems you must have some bad karma or something!!
Think you must need to do a good deed, and maybe have some Tibetan monks bless you, your humble abode and your car...maybe break this streak of bad luck!!
Then again....the fact you are alive might be proof you might have the best luck around and need to buy a lottery ticket....just not sure which one!!
Just find a way to make your life MORE boaring for a few months?!!
Sorry...didn't mean to make you laugh!!!

Ouch! Might want to invest in some slip-on over-the-shoe traction.

There are plenty of options, these are called Stabilicers:

Good for self-protection too. One of those swiftly in the groin, and any misunderstandings are quickly concluded in your favor.

This was totally avoidable on my end. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

This is a huge slowdown. The trick now is to not gain weight, but to keep eating properly and adjust for the reduced activity levels.

I've asked for a referral to use the warm water pool.

The pain level is off the charts. I am being very careful and watching for symptoms that will send me back to the ER. Sitting still is about the only thing that helps right now. Very hard for me to go from being very active to being very sedentary.

    Visitors are welcome too.

About a week has gone by so here is an update.

The ribs don't hurt as much, Actually slept a full night through for once. However, this little incident has set me back quite a bit.

I've not lost any weight, in fact I'm up almost 10 lbs. I can't walk like I was, I try but it hurts a lot just to walk, so I'm getting in maybe 1/3 of where I was before when it comes to walking. The gym, haven't been in a week. For a few reasons. I'm not supposed to drive and I need to give the ribs some time to heal.

The absolute worst part if all this is having to rely on help again. People make plans to help you out then bail at the last minute. Because of that I've not had any decent food in the house for a bit. Getting healthy carry out is farking impossible.

Like today for instance. Yesterday afternoon we were supposed to go grocery shopping. But even though the OSU game was over for hours someone that promised to take just hung out here. When I mentioned that we are to go shopping I was told that due to the game traffic was impossible. We'd go tomorrow. Then she left. I again had nothing in the house to cook for dinner. Had some fruit, ordered a pizza. Now sick, with guilt of eating crap. from eating crap and spending money on crap.

Today is tomorrow. I get texted, sorry, not leaving the house today. Call and order something, maybe we can go tomorrow.

It's not like I haven't spent the past 6 months or so changing my life totally to get out of that SAD* rhythm. And here that person is not realizing it but they are telling me that all I've done is now invalid.

I am, not a happy camper today.

Hang in.... As for the food, do any of the stores offer delivery and online grocery shopping. A bit more cash I am sure, but might be worth it as you heal.

Lunch date! I do not even get a lunch date.... :) But I do have my wife to be around and pretend. :) :)

Online grocery, cab fare is what 10 bucks to the local, each way. And ask the driver to lug up the groceries with the promise of a tip.

Get better, get happier, stay warm, time does pass and you will be better.

When friends pull back, first look at what you are asking and reflect, it is insightful.

If plan A isn't working, you have to ditch it and go with plan B. Like today or tomorrow. Wether that be delivery, cab, whatever you have to get out there and do it. 10lbs becomes twenty too fast, and once you start the slide, it gathers momentum and you start sliding quicker. Yes, your friend screwed you over a bit, but at the end of the day it's on you. Not trying to be mean, concerned is all, broken ribs hurt, but heart attacks hurt worse.

    Hang in there!!
The weight gain, I would be inclined to think, is water weight....drugs can do some odd stuff to ya!!
...And unless you are hooked up to a cheese-wizz IV, gaining weight that fast might need more than one or two binge sessions...
Sucks...but let's face it...you might be able to use the downtime....
Think of it as a pause, not a stop or a setback to the changes you made...
And 90% of the grocery stuff...bet you could skip it...and when you need it..a TAXI IS SLWAYS JUST A 30-40 minute wait away...yes..even small towns have them..bet you can get one if you need it..simple or easy. No. But doable.been there, done it.

Not used to thinking of Taxi's, car services or Car2Go.

I got it worked out. Needed to vent before.

Thanks for kicking me too, needed that as well.

Lunch date went well. Even if she does drive a Camry.

Against the advice of another woman, while on the lunch date, i broached the possibility of stopping by Whole Foods. Ms Lunch Date was all for it.
