It was the theme of the party. My sis-in-law is quite the crafty one when it comes to my nephews parties. This is just the tip of all the decorations around the house.
Had my quarterly peek to make sure the cancer thing hasn't reappeared. It has not. That is 1.5 years clear now.
Met with my nutritionist today. She was laughing at me. While going over my goals I was lamenting the fact that it so hard to get great veggies this time of year and I didn't freeze or jar enough from the farmers market over the summer. Why the laughter... Almost all her other patients don't have these issues. Most still eat like carp and here I am with my big problem that pales in comparison. Then she told me about a group that meets for an hour or so to tend to raised bed gardens they have behind the building. Urban Gardening, something I've been looking into. The real cold is not agreeing with me. When cold, below 25F, I feel brittle after being out a bit. It's hurting my walking. The real struggle is maintaining weight with reduced activity. Not slipping...just not losing.
A pair of YAX TRAX grips fastened to the bottoms of your shoes/boots will allow you to walk the snowy/icy areas of C-Bus without fear of slipping and thus, your reduced activity problem should be solved. :ihih:
Been some time since I've reported in. The Good... I'm on fewer meds. Both my body and wallet like that. The hernia is a non issue for now according to the cat scan. The Bad... I've been rather depressed lately. No need for speculation, working through it with therapy. Gained weight, not a lot, but it is not the direction I want to be headed. So that's the news from M/A World HQ where we now have better wireless interwebs locally.
Hi Nathan! Congrats on being on fewer meds! Keep up the good work! Lots of people here are pulling for you! Looking forward to seeing you at the dragon! Bill
Peaks and valleys, it's completely normal. Just gotta keep pushing through the valleys and hit the reset button. It's hard to stay on track after a major change and be consistent with diet, exercise, state of mind, etc...A lifestyle change is a long-term goal; it's rare for someone to make drastic changes and not slip back a bit at times. Can't beat yourself up about it, just have to get back to what you were doing well and keep working at it. You're in better shape than you were four years ago, focus on that, use that as motivation, don't get hung up on the relatively temporary setbacks, that makes it too easy to give up. It's a process, and it takes time. I hate sounding like Dr. Phil, I'll bow out now...
Nathan, good to see the progress on the meds, bumps and lows happen, they go away, think only a few more weeks and it will be Spring! Then you can de-salt Gnat, go out and walk the hood in shorts and a t-shirt, work in the community garden, etc... Keep up the good work, this time of year we all have low points, you just have a harder job than some of us.
I had an epiphany. It's those friggin' Smart cars! Quit driving those damned things. If you do, things can only get better...
As soon as Spring gets here you will start feeling better. This long cold Winter crap is getting annoying. Bring out the Sun and lets melt this snow and defrost the ground already. It's almost time to go to the Dragon for a week long PARTY!
For once I agree with Scooter... And please don't drive anything that you used to be able to eat in one sitting...
