:cornut:When I worked Auto Parts in the 60's the hot ticket was the Holley 2 barrel 'Bug Spray' carburator and manifold set up. And of course the Exhaust Headers, Mallory dual point distributor, cross cutting the heads to increase compression ratio, a Hurst Shifter, and shortening the frame to accept a fiber glass 'Dune Buggy' body. The old days were Great!

Hahaha... Yup. If I had that kind of cash, it would be hard to decide which way to go. Do I install a Judson on my old beat up Bug -OR- do I build up a Porsche engine and gearbox and install it in a Single Cab or 23 Window Bus then install an independent front suspension and 6 pot calipers and carbon fiber brakes and rotors on each corner and top it off with a nice set of late Porsche rims and low profile, directional "Z" rated tires ?
Hmmm.... I think the latter would end up being the more cost effective.

A buddy in college had a Judson supercharger on his Beetle. It went like snot! But he had a spare motor and when one blew up, he had the other ready to go, it seemed that I was helping with the motor swap about once a year. He did drive the hell out of it though!

I remember VW beetle engine swaps. Took about an hour if you were working slow. Things have changed a bit. Several days is an average swap these days.
