That's different (says Roger).

Well, that was a waste of time and money. After sitting in line at the main gate for twenty minutes the lady tells me I have to go to reservations to get a ticket to the Mini Corral. Another 20 minutes standing in line this time only to find out that the Mini Corral is sold out and has been for quite a while. If I had known that I wouldn't have bothered. I went ahead and bought a general admission ticket and figured maybe the handicapped parking would be close to a viewing area. Yeah right, about a half mile walk. For a couple of reasons I can't handle that much walking any more, especially up and down hill. And, before anyone says "You should have bought your ticket early", I tried. The website said to purchase tickets for the corral at the gate. To add insult to injury, the only exit you can use before the end of the race was a dirt/gravel road.
I'm sitting at home now and have cooled off enough that I no longer want to break something. I'll try and see if this damned satellite internet will work well enough to stream the race.
Rant off. -

Wow, that sucks. I guess either the corral was more popular than expected or they just weren't allowed enough space to start with. Either way, you probably weren't the only one left out. :nonod:
Fingers crossed for a robust satellite feed. :fingerscrossed: (02:00 PM ET - 04:10 PM ET) -

Bad planning IMO. There were only 50 slots in the corral, but they sold 60, so I guess they tried. I found out about the 50 slots after the fact.
Satellite feed hung in there until the 1 hour mark before locking up. Came back just in time to see them extracting 73 from the tire barrier. I'm gonna watch it again next week just to see what happened to the 73 and see if they show what happened to the Camaro behind the pace car. -

You should have told them you were driving a Nissan. There weren't more that 10 cars in that corral, which was next to the MINI one, and the same size. It seemed like a waste of space. The BMW and Corvette ones had lots of open space as well.

I tried to talk her into selling me a Mini corral ticket and I would park somewhere else, that I wanted to hang out with the Mini folks. She wouldn't buy it. Yeah, I noticed a lot of empty acreage in the adjoining corrals, but they had their gatekeepers on duty. On the streaming broadcast the announcer actually said the Corvette corral had the best turnout. No clue where he was looking.

It was a great weekend at VIR. Unfortunately not so great for the MINIs. The hospitality at the MINI trailer was great, they raffled off stuff and laps around the track. I won a nice duffle and team hat. Got some autographs and talked to a lot of other owners.
I also got a couple of hot laps in a Ferrari 488. That was really fun.
VetsVette sorry it didn't work out for you. I looked for your car Friday and Saturday in the corral. We were set up along the roller coaster all weekend with my MINI flag flying.
Next year we get IMSA at Mid Ohio it would be great if some of guys could come. I'll be going up to Road America also. -
IMSA at Mid-Ohio?
I see nothing on either the Mid-Ohio or IMSA websites about a return to MO in 2018. Can you confirm or give dates?
First race weekend I ever attended was an IMSA race at MO way back in 1975/1976 (?) and would certainly plan to attend next year if I don't have a conflict with the date.
