I think Redbeard mentioned earlier slipping the clutch going from a stop into first. I am replacing a clutch in my car(2010 Cooper JCW S, that I bought with 18000 miles on it, used from a dealer). So a few questions. Are you supposed to dump the clutch more than slip it gently? I've been driving a clutch off and on for 44 years and I've never had a clutch problem. I will autocross 1 or 2 times a month but I thought Minis were built to take that. I saw the flywheel and it is blue spotted and covered with hairline cracks. What does that indicate?

The blue'ing and microfractures indicate excessive heat was applied to the flywheel. Excessive clutch slipping will do that.

Artemis is going in the the dealer Tuesday. I told them my symptom and they said it's probably the flywheel.

    Wish me luck!
