The day at the track was great. The Volvos got 1st and 2nd in WC. But the Indy race was like last year, kinda boring. Saw Tom and family. Kelly was with us for both days. But I didn't see any one else. The NSX prototype shell lapped the track twice. I say shell because it was an old NSX underneath. The were a lot of Honda R&D guys there that gave us the info.
Watched it on TV and it was a darn good race. There were two different main strategies the teams were working from. Go for a time delta on a lap using low fuel and only 2 stops or drive it like you stole it and do 3 stops. I'm really glad the go for it strategy prevailed. Kudos to Charlie Kimbal and team for rolling those dice and making it work.
On TV you see what is happening all around the track. At the track you are limited, but oh boy the sound track is so much better. Wish I'd have been up for Saturday & Sunday.
That was what I enjoyed about the Rolex 24 hours in Daytona. Plenty of time to walk around and see the race from every spot. Definitely hard to beat the soundtrack and even with HD the visuals are still better to actually be there. One of these days I will make it up to mid Ohio for a race.
