To hard to move it out of the garage to tan off the over waxed finish without power steering.

Yeah I was going to do that but I changed my mind. I still have the parts sitting down in my toolbox collecting dust.
FYI I can tan in my garage now as its has been carpeted and I have 2 High Output T2 6k florecent lights. (1) 6 tube and (1) 4 tube and the (10) 2 tube 6k T6 dlorcents in a single car garage. Yes you could operate in my garage it's that bright. Yup 30 tubes of very bright lights.-

Yeah. I had purchased all to have them installed at Helix a while back. Ended up being the cheapest of the three. So, I took the others back for the refund. I'll worry about those other lines when they need replacing.

13 years or 150,000 miles. Whichever comes first...
Looks like you are under the line still.

Sounds to me like you could grow stuff in there...hope you don't have cracks in the floor for weeds to grow!!
My thinking was...killing the PS was penny wise, pound foolish...the shaft u-joints are gonna get $$$...they can be hard enough to find as it is.....extra tq from driving without a PS pump...can't be good for them...-

Bump for Chad (DT) or Eric (Helix) or others to chime in.

Thats the way my PS acted when the pump was going out. Lucky for me it was covered under the the PS extended warranty. Check with Mini yours may still be covered. They replaced my pump last year. I have an 02

then I got a call and they wanted $460 to replace the leaking power steering lines. First I have never put power steering fluid in the car so that was a hack to begin with but also $460! they already have the whole thing disassembled and all they have to do is take the lines out and put the lines in! anyway... I decided to just leave them and get the lines replaced elsewhere. I still got the free power steering motor and fan.
My suggestion would be to have another mechanic look at it and see if it needs new power steering lines and have him replace if it is less than the quoted $460.
Hope that helps! cheers! -
Check with a dealer. It may be covered by the power steering extended warranty.

Does anyone know of the term of said warranty? I currently have an "04 MCS with 145K on it. I thought I has seen that it was only to 100K.

The mini has an appointment Thursday fir them to look at the power steering and get it fixed (hopefully under warranty.) They stated that they think that only the pump, fan, and harness is under warranty. They claim then hoses are not.

It has happened before and my dealership is very cool. Heck they know my car and even know not to wash it. -

Dave, I thought you were going to do the PS delete?

according to MINI the problem is a failing Ujoint in the steering column. Anyone else experience this problem before? it makes no noise and started to happen all of the sudden. This seems like an unlikely issue esp since it seems that all of the venders are not producing them at this point in time according to Germanautoparts.com.
