2nd Gen R56 Cooper S Intermittent Wiper and Crazy Sprayer

My rear wiper started to only work intermittently - I mean more intermittent than it's supposed to be.:rolleyes5:
It stops mid sweep and I have to turn it off and on a couple times to get it to finish. Has anyone had this happen; probable causes?
Another weird thing is now the rear washer sprays back and forth over the entire window, rather than just peeing in one spot as it has done for the last 5 years. This is great and does a much better job cleaning, but is it supposed to do that or is something loose?

 

Well I found the problem. The wiper motor, gearing and washer sprayer are contained in a single unit. The tube that feeds the washer nozzle broke inside the housing and washer fluid leaked inside causing a short. It's not repairable. Not difficult to replace though. Should be about $150 according to realoem.
