Porsche looks like it's built for speed and the MINI is an Economy Car that is camouflaged for speed.

This is one if the greatest articles I've ever read. Having owned a (now classic) 71 BMW 2002, 69 Porsche 911, and the Mini/MINIs, each auto maker established a unique standard for design, practicality and performance which remains today. The evolution in model design is inevitable as consumer demand always occupies a seat in the vehicle. Our perception of these new designs may not always agree, but the original concept for each design is the nexus for all future development. The legacy of the 911 and Mini are equaled by few and I'm excited to have owned, driven and thoroughly enjoyed each of them.

Interesting post. Prior to buying my base MINI I had gotten the nod of approval from my wife to buy a Cayman. I have always had a soft spot for Porsches and in the past owned an '87 Carrera Cabriolet. Amazingly when my wife and I test drove our MINI for the first time I realized this little thing could give me all the pleasure and satisfaction I was looking for and save me a ton of money at the same time. I've had the MINI since 1-7 and so far haven't regretted it.

I would say everyone should read his blog because it is very good.
" I did say MINI is the new Porsche and meant it as both brands have moved forward through their generations so has the demands of their owners and customer markets often against their purists wishes…"

This was a great article. I thought the comparisons were spot on and for the individuals that don’t have a lot of knowledge about the brands themselves one would/should be amazed at how much MINI has to offer when it comes to designing “your” perfect MINI. IMO MINI is above and beyond when it comes to the individuality aspect of the vehicle, there is obviously a market for it. Hopefully, one day that philosophy will migrate to the performance side a little more than it has in the past.
Keep up the good work!-
