The Countryman is an extension of the second generation line. Just like the coopster and roadster will be.

    Trouble maker.

1st Gen: Supercharged. Headlights attached to the bonnet.
    2nd Gen: Everything else.

Got ya. In a way that makes since, but in another way it doesn't, as it is the first generation of its type.

As you are far more experienced in these forums, I'm trying to follow your example. :cornut:

    Here's how I see it..

    1st gen = Tritec engine
    2nd Gen = Prince Engine.

    Here's the real deal...

it has nothing to do with if it's a first or a second of that flavor of car. It has to do with the base chassis and it's family derivitives.

The R50/52/53 all were derivitives of the first new MINI chassis. The R56-60 family are all somewhat derivitives of the second chassis.

It's like saying that the first boy of a family is second generation when it was the grandparents that had emmigrated.

So it's the first Countryman, but it's from the 2nd generation chassis. Hence it being a second gen car. Just like the case for the Clubman, where there was no 1st gen equivilent.

If that's not gonna do it for you, there's nothing to be done. ;)

You managed to explain it without making it confusing at all.

That makes sence Matt. I can see the logic and it does, in fact, do it for me. Now if someone asks me the same question I heve the answer.
