mini, taking the fun out of everything

As a guy with a gimpy left knee I think this is a good move, but I can't see me buying what MINI calls a mini these days even with a DSG box of cogs. Yes manuals are better bla bla bla.... I really like the dual clutch in my GTI, it's much better than a torque converter auto or a God forsaken CVT. I hope manuals keep being made, but I'm happy with a nice Dual clutch.
The joys of CVT's.

Yea I am a manual guy. But when I was looking at E46 M3s it was a hard decision between a manual and a SMG. I drove a SMG M3 and it was wicked fast! With your foot on the floor, when it shifted from first to second, OH MAN! I thought it was going to leave the rear end on the ground. It was violent! I liked it!!!!

The GTI DSG has been great for ages. My son has a 2009 and it's fantastic. BMW should have sourced it or cloned it and called it a day, long long ago.

It makes me sad that they offer absolutely nothing today with any appeal to me, even with bells and whistles like a DCT...and they seem to get progressively further away (i.e., bigger and uglier) at every release. -

Nice that MINI provides spare CVT links, but why would they put the extras there?
