Holy Moly! I thought Dave.0 was neurotic about washing his car but you even dismantle the engine! :D

That got me thinking: I should do a mud covered look with paint to save me jet washing the engine after every rally! This project should be featured on Mini Space.

Well guys, I was hoping do do a decent update this weekend with all the work I did...

Unfortunately very minimal work got done... Ok so 5 bolts and 3 hoses came off. :( Just enough to get the radiator/support off so I could make a bunch of measurements and start building the framing for the I/C diverter.

But I didnt even get the tape measure out of my work bag... :(

I did however, get caught up on the yard work, replaced the hot water heater, and striped the 40 year old wall paper out of the upstairs hallway, and hooked it up with some fancy paint.

Back to the diverter though... There isnt as much room as I thought there was, but the only changes I need to make to my plan is to shorten the height. It is still going to be a very small space in the diverter, but the stock plastic stuff is all in the same area and it works, so it should work out fine.

Still cant wait until I build a front mount I/C setup for the stroker... What is very little space for an I/C is actually a good bit of room for piping, and a custom short runner/large plenum intake manifold. :D

Here's the street-legal sprint car, powered by what appeared to be a small GM V6. And yes, the windshield is zip-tied into place.

    Yep, thats the business end!

So, I painted the back panel, and the floor of the air box. (To hide the ugliness that you would see behind and below it. ;))

Then I polished a lot of pieces of aluminum...

And riveted the two panels together...

Man this thing is going to look SWEET!

Sometimes it is nice to have a one-off piece to call your own. :)

I always enjoy seeing your workmanship.

You live where it's cold in the winter. How have you missed the fact that the kitchen table becomes the official automotive genius' work surface when it's too cold outside for your fingers to work?

First of all, this build is pretty sweet. Congrats on a really nice job. I like the workmanship on the intake: my only quibble is the carbon fiber finish on the NACA duct. I think it betrays the ratness of the rod. How bout wrapping that sucker or painting it to match the patina of the rest of the car?

    Needs more rivets.

    And dents.

Savvy, it obviously wasn't Dick's friends. Now, if it were four sheep...
