Yep, I did 3 years active infantry in the 101st, got out fora year and a half before I got a recall letter that I was getting pulled back in. Only way around it was to join the reserves. So I did, and 8 years of that and now Im out for good.
Thanks for your service. The draw down is forcing or giving an opportunity for individuals to get out. Hell they are giving bonuses to voluntarily seperate before your EAS, my son-in-law jumped on it, don’t understand it but hey…
Copy that MF. Can't say I blame you. It's a whole different ballgame from when I was in. (66-88) We were disrespected by the civilian populace, but you guys are getting it from our civilian leaders. These days I would probably make the same decision as you. As an aside, I wish I had a buck for everyone that tells me they wish they had stayed in because they could have retired years ago. I would be flush for cold beer for the next year or so. :biggrin5: Thanks for your service in a very difficult time.
Yep me too. I did 22 years, and it was time to go... That was back in 2006. I'm glad I did it, but I have watched "as a contractor" the last 8 years, and it sure has changed. When you have more people than jobs, it is easy for policy makers to not care about the individual.
Well I got as far as primer on the fenders... Been busting my ass too hard at work, and dont want to do anything but relax on the couch when I get home. My camping trip this weekend is going to be a well needed break from everything. Got to get out and away from everything for a couple days.
Haven't made my mind up if I am painting or camping this weekend. Well my campin buddies haven't made up their minds. If I get the base coats on the fenders and cowl this week, it would work out great for me... That lets me do the clears next weekend when the roommates and dogs are out of town. No interruptions and full creative freedom.
Painting tonight! As promised earlier though, you can not see the fenders until the base coats are finished! Pretty sure that was the least amount of money I have ever spent in the paint shop... $15.00 for a box of red ScotchBrite pads.
Fenders are done! And its really starting to look like a car again... Still need to do the cowl and modified scoop, plus order the damn bumpers... Some of that will be taken care of this weekend. Ha ha teaser pic... Cant see it!
No I'm not using those wire conectors... Got some solid copper ones that will be soldered on. And no, not hooking it up to the main power, but it will shut the car down if the key is taken out.
Wireing done, just waiting on the liquid tape to dry, then I will be putting the cowl back in place, so I can spray it tomorrow! (Last metal pice to do! )
It looks 50 years old because it's taking him so long. Great work Dick, now order the bumpers already and work on getting the motor back in.
